I'm still playing with shortcuts. Did you know that you can now trigger an automation when an app notification comes in? I've not thought of any use for that yet, but I'm sure it'll be useful one day.
Anyway, one thing I've wanted to do for ages is automate phone backups. I often turn my phone off at night while it's charging so it can go a few days without backing up. So, I thought I'd try this new "ask Siri to create a shortcut" feature.
Oh well. It seems it can't do anything useful apart from open the backup page, which is what I've already coded. Still, at least it understood me, which is something.
And since when is a backup a "physical action" ... am I meant to load backup tapes or something?

There seems to be a lot of QOL improvements in iOS 27. Aside from the few minor glitches here and there, this is a pretty solid B1.
On my 12Pro it is faster and smoother than any version of iOS 18 or iOS 26. So far I have not encountered any issues. This iOS 27 beta has been great. Hard to believe that it is a first beta.

Safari missing certain web site options in drop down menu from url address bar on my ipad. If you tap the 3 horizontal lines on the left side you now get what’s in the image below. I was looking for “turn off content blockers” and other web site functions which are missing.

Using a $20 Amazon wireless adapter, CarPlay is better than ever.
Waze did freeze once, but leaving and returning to CaPlay on my car's stereo unfroze it.

How many people’s iPads/iPhones are still indexing?

My iPad Pro M1 I updated about 27 hours ago has never said it was indexing. My iPhone 17 Pro is on hour 10 of indexing. Both waitlisted, joined waitlist 27 hours ago with iPad.

Still waiting on new Siri and still indexing. I installed and joined the waitlist immediately as it was dropped. I don’t get it.

Interesting that iOS 27 puts the Remote app on phones… I never had the app prior to this, and would just use the Control Center shortcut when I needed the Apple TV remote.
Wonder if I can still use the Control Center shortcut if I delete the app from my phone…

I saw a video from Brian Tong (still at WWDC Day 2) stating that Apple mentioned somewhere that indexing may take upwards of a week. So… yeah.

The Remote app had been around for a while (icon had the old touch pad remote icon); they moved it to CC, and launching the app would direct you there.
