it just depends on how much data overall you have installed on your iphone .. try to let it plugged in but just know that same for me i have 800 Gb of data on it . We need to remember that it's not the same indexing as before, this time the phone needs to classify a ton of information on mails, photos etc..
Not anywhere near 800GB on mine. Total says 118GB. Installed the minute it released. 17PM.

So apple will check everything that´s in our phone? what about the so called Apple privacy first???
it's all on device , nothing goes to the cloud , that's why indexing will take time , it's like a more refined spotlight locally on your iphone. the only advantage or Apple AI i see is that most of it is on device, that's the reason only 15 pro and later can use it because you need a ton of ram , and we already see one bad side of it , for exemple the new Siri advanced voice who is quite expressive is reserved for Iphone air and 17 pro/max cos they need 12 Gb of memory to do this on device, it's easy to try , turn on airplane mode , on IOS you will still have access to most AI features as long as the cloud is not needed, but on android you cannot do a request ( or only on some pixel i guess maybe for basic stuff ) cos they default to the cloud and is way less private. it's a tradeoff .

When the timer goes off, is the huge default button still Repeat? And does to stop require a clunky, non-iniuitive, stupidly thought out Slide to Stop?

You can replace Slide to Stop with a single tap in both iOS 26 and 27 by tweaking the Touch section in Accessibility:

Can you guys keep the “still indexing” posts to a minimum? Unlike Siri waitlist, indexing doesn’t seem to affect your usage after the initial 24 hours.

It’s fine to post how long it took to finish indexing but the “50hrs and still indexing” posts don’t really add anything productive to the thread.

Based on this alert I have in Mail search which is presumably part of the indexing, I’m prepared to just keep on keeping on while it does its thing.

Worth remembering though this isn’t a consumer facing product yet. It’s a beta intended for developers to test THEIR apps with the new API’s . It would nice if Apple gave some useful guidance to set expectations and what is actually being indexed I.e. photos iCloud etc., but that’s not their jam

Personally I think they hit it out of the park with iOS27 and am looking forward to giving Siri a proper test once the indexing is done

I just want want to pitch in my thoughts regarding the indexing...

Personally, my 17PM is still indexing and I keep very little on my phone. Everything that I do is on the Mac, so only the necessary apps and data are kept on my phone.

That being said, this is really the first time Apple has notified us regarding ongoing indexing. I wouldn't be surprised if the process has always taken roughly this long and we just never realized it until now.
