My iPhone has been indexing since last Monday!

I charge it every night, with Wi-Fi on.

I suspect iOS 27 β1 is reindexing every photo — so it may be downloading each one (as I enabled iCloud Library), then indexing it, which would explain why it’s taking so long.

I’ve experienced missing texts particularly from SMS conversations.

Have you tried forcing a sync?
Settings / Apple ID / iCloud / Messages / "Sync Now"

Siri pops up at unexpected times for me. The most frequent times are listed below, but it also pops up completely randomly.

1. When pulling the control center or notification shade down, Siri pops up at the behind whatever I’m trying to access. I have to dismiss both when I’m done.
2. When accessing the Passwords app, Siri pops up. I have to dismiss Siri to view my passwords.

Pulling down from the top of the screen invokes Siri. You have to pull from top-right now to get the control centre and top-left for the notifications screen. Going to take some new muscle memories ...

As I've been playing with shortcuts a lot, I might have simply discovered things that were fixed/working in iOS 26 anyway (compared to iOS 18).

But ... I've just created an automation to turn Bluetooth off when I leave home. I had this before, but it would prompt me to run the shortcut regardless of what settings I had. Now, it just runs. Lovely. And of course I've added a new one to turn BT back on when I get home. Not tested that yet, as I've only just created it. And I'm at home 🙂

As an aside, I asked Siri to create it, as I couldn't find a way to manually add "home" to the "when I leave" automation.

Edit: Arriving home also worked. There's no way to stop it sending a notification, but I don't mind that.

Some updates from me, after a few days of playing:

1) I logged a Feedback that Siri can't access my health data (UK region)

2) If you're having WiFi dropouts, try turning the new "Connectivity Assist" option off. It may help.

3) Weather app on MacOS can't be configured to show temperature/conditions as default. FB logged.

4) Dragging an app icon to a home-screen won't allow duplicates. All other instances are silently deleted. Workaround is to drag icons from the App Library. Bug existed in iOS 26 too. FB logged (again)

5) Screenshots can't be cropped at the point of saving. Mentioned loads of times above.

6) I have a shortcut which reads out my steps (that works, unlike 1 above). If I've walked a low number which looks like a year, Siri reads it out as such! "You walked nineteen eighty seven steps today". Duh. FB logged.

7) My iPhone 17 doesn't have much data on it, and it's still saying it's indexing. Whatever it's doing, it's doing extremely slowly. However, it doesn't appear to affect anything, as I got the new Siri AI yesterday (UK region, Switzerland location).

8) I love the new shortcuts method of combining shortcuts and automations (automations show as a trigger on top of the shortcut, but running it manually just skips the trigger). Shortcuts has been the thing I've played with the most.

First beta that hasn’t broken any of my shortcuts that were in use. 👍

This is exactly my thought as well. I believe that part of new indexing architecture, apps can now register indices and index processes to a central spotlight indexing service rather than each app having to create the index themselves or something.

If I had a lot of photos on my Air I would agree. It’s an Air, not a photo takers dream. 😁. Wonder if we will ever find out the real cause.
I also do not backup my photos to iCloud.

For those having issues with WiFi frequently dropping and reconnecting, I have found a hard reset (forced restart?) to solve the problem, at least temporarily and while on the same network. I was having dropouts ever 5 minutes or so while on my home network yesterday. Restarted and haven’t had one since. I have also had WiFi drop outs occur when connected to CarPlay. Again, a forced restart stopped it there. I suspect switching networks to be a catalyst for this bug to present itself, but I have not tested.

For the first time, i´m waiting for Beta 2/3, and just hope the worst bugs has be adressed (indexing) and also not a "q"-build. Tried it for a day. Loved it, but this summer, it´s more important then ever that my phone works stable untill mid-july (because of just started my own business).

iOS27 will be awesome!

The one thing that needs to be changed is the Siri swipe down on the 16/17e. The nice black drop animation ignores the notch completely and looks awfully silly as a result. It would be nice if it dropped down from the notch rather than right behind it.

Often, B2 is worse than B1 as they break things while changing them.

As for the indexing ... it's just a message which you can ignore. Whether it's indexing very slowly, or a bug where it does nothing for ages ... it's not negatively impacting my phone usage at all.

But as you say you're starting a new business ... better the devil you know I guess!

Ok.

I am wondering if the indexing (which mine has been doing since Monday) is one of the reasons why my battery is not better than it could be. We will see, but I have seen that when off the charger, it drops faster than it did on 26.6 betas.

As one or two others may have noted, I have noticed that my camera app doesn't always take photos. I first noticed it the other night when I switched to the .5 setting and the capture button nor the camera control button would take the photo. I force closed the app and it would take photos on the other zoom settings as long as I was using the on screen button (camera control button still not working), but as soon as I changed it to .5, it did nothing.

Feedback submitted.

Are there any current dealbreakers people are experiencing? I’d ask Siri AI to analyse this thread and summarise but lol.
I have been running it on my 17 Pro Max since Monday, no major issues. CarPlay drops out every 10 or so minutes (but reconnects on its own after about 10 seconds), personal hotspot intermittently has drops for a few seconds but otherwise phone feels on par or even better with 26.5.1.

I was in the FindMy app and noticed that when I was in the room with a friend it showed a “find” button instead of a “directions” button on their location. Pressed it and it popped up like I was looking for an AirTag. Has this always been a thing? Sorry I’m at work now so I can’t post a screenshot but maybe someone else can try it. I’m on a 16pm and they’re on a 17pm.

Totally agree. Im happy with B1 and most likely will skip 2nd and 3rd betas.

I think since the iPhone 15 and the UWB Gen 2 chip

Tested on my 17Pro and had no issues with camera. Tried everything you listed. Just putting it out there. Seems like everyone’s phones act a little different.

Ok, FINALLY got the new Siri. For those who are still waiting, try whining about the wait to friends and family for a few days. Worked for me. 😎

Same - just got mine. Only took 96 hours. Still indexing so I guess, half way there. Wish Siri had more Extensions than ChatGPT - which I will not use.

Interesting thing, after I saw the lockscreen alert about Siri, I woke up my Air, it wanted passcode for the 2nd time today, and had a wth message on the Homescreen. See attached. Never had that pop up before days after an update.
