My phone was indexing since day 1, it's finally done. Glad to know it wasn't just stuck.

Hm, I went ahead and accepted it was a glitch! So it actually can take about a week to index? That's kinda gnarly..

I'm curious on an aside: does Golden Gate also indicate indexing? I haven't noticed it since day one.. (apologies, I know this is attached to my response in an iOS room)

No longer have expressive voice or extensions available. Siri camera is also not present anymore. Anyone else?

One issue I thought might be resolved, or solved for, with this new Siri thing is to be able to recognize a custom named Focus. It can't which surprises me. It knows "turn on DND" or "turn on sleep" but to say "turn on (name)" and all I get it "sorry I don't understand" or "which room?"

Have you fed that back? That’s a good one.

This has annoyed me for ages. Thanks for reminding me to test it again, Jumpie, even if it ended in disappointment. I've logged a Feecback. One I logged under iOS 18 has been ignored, so I doubt Apple really cares much about Siri doing "old fashioned" stuff, but we'll see.

You could try replacing them with bookmarklets (javascript:… URLs), which Safari hopefully won’t invoke on its own. Or with Shortcuts, of course.

I wonder if there’s a privacy issue there, due to browser fingerprinting if not cookies. Honestly I don’t want Safari to fetch favicons without me visiting the site.
I've no actual idea what Safari was doing, apart from the fact it definitely triggered my bookmarks by itself, every single time I started the browser on both iOS and MacOS.

This never happened before, including the recent 26.6 beta.

I have shortcuts already*; it really is just so - while already in the browser - I can just type "t1" into the address bar and it runs the bookmark I've attached the keyword "t1" to and it changed the radio station.

* My shortcut asks for a number and sets the radio to that numbered preset. Apart from preset 3. However I pronounce it, Siri refuses to understand it when I say "three". It always changed it to "Siri" or "Play". I had to amend the shortcut to take the second word I say if I say two words, so now I say "number 3" and it gets it right.

I have a friend called Xi. Same name as the president of China, which I assume is a name some people at Apple have heard of.

Not Siri. Siri sees "Xi" and ignores the drop-case, ignores absolutely all context because it's totally stupid, and changes it.

My calendar event, as a test I even made it very obvious, is called "Meet Chinese president Xi to chat about communism" and Siri read out my event as "Meet Chinese president eleven to chat about communism". And they say Apple Intelligence is the future.

I think they don't put an "indexing" dialog in the settings on MacOS as they're able to complete the tasks much quicker - for the most part, they can use as much power as they like to complete the indexing on the Mac. On your phone, they have to be considerably more constrained - both in terms of draining your battery as well as forcing the iPhone to overheat.

I do wish that they'd give us a % complete or some other status indicator so we had some notion as to an ETA. 🙂

I have OEM wired CarPlay but use an aftermarket wireless adapter. While it did have occasional crashes in the past, it was nowhere near the frequency I’m seeing now, even early on in this beta cycle.

I’ll see how it does on the way home after the restart I did earlier and report back.
No crashes on the drive home today. Restart was the ticket (maybe).

iPhone Air - have Siri and still indexing.

Had to turn off “Limit IP Address Tracking” to get WiFi to work correctly. With it on I get connectivity failures and a good bit of using 5G to augment data.

It has been just over 24hrs since I turned this off and have not had a re-occurrence.

Wait doent limit my ip adress works only when private relay is on ?

For the above entry - #1537, I took a screenshot and did a snip of a portion of it to the clipboard. When I went to paste it, Safari locked solid. Had to hard reboot to get it functional.

I saved the snip in photos, then copied it into the post to get it to work.

iPad Pro 11 M4 in Safari.

CarPlay had a bad morning. 25 minute drive, eight crashes. Up until today it was one or two.

Edit: Two more crashes while sitting listening to the news so I decided to restart my phone. When it came back up the indexing message was gone but it came right back.
Had 3 on my way home. Hope you filed a feedback. (Mine still says that there are no similar requests, which means AI isn’t targeting that issue yet)

My situation might be very different from yours since my Outlook account is managed by the company I work for. For example, I can't take screenshots or copy/paste info from Outlook content due to restrictions. When asking Siri AI questions about content from my Outlook email, it can't access it.
My company doesn’t allow beta builds on company devices. (Also have cut & paste locked down as well as screens shots of certain applications)

Yeah… I’m surprised by the things it can’t access. I’m now now more sure than ever it isn’t running “on device” because it acts like every local request is asking it to access the device remotely 🤣
