Time to do some backups.. I'm planning to do a clean install of iOS 27 beta 1. what about you?
I usually just download the IPSW and update from recovery as opposed to a true clean-install. I’ve never noticed a difference between the options, and I usually don’t have the device-breaking bugs that I see others flag on the forums.

I do backups now and then -- but I've been intentionally not performing clean installs for as long as I can remember. I also don't use a "spare" device for the betas; I'm installing directly to my daily driver iPhone. I know this sounds like I'm asking for trouble... and in a way, that's exactly what I'm doing, but for a purpose.

The thing is, non-techie "typical" users aren't going to do clean installs, and with few exceptions, they don't typically even have a spare iPhone lying around. What Apple needs to see from us is, IMHO, a representation of what those typical users are going to do. If the installation process never fails during the betas -- because all of the beta users are techies who know to do clean installs -- but then it fails frequently or badly when rolled out to the broader community... that obviously becomes a problem.

Of course, the counterpoint here is that I also usually wait for the public beta, unless I'm particularly excited for a given feature that I know is coming, as I feel like that waiting minimizes my risk exposure adequately.

That said: I will definitely be doing a full backup this weekend... because if the new Siri drops in the coming week, I will almost certainly not be waiting for the public beta.

Aren’t we all lmao
I just got this phone this week and still am getting used to IOS 26. The first Beta is going to be so full of bugs but at least it gets the excitement up. Doesn't mean I'm going to install it though. I am looking forward to what Apple has to say on Monday.

Usually the first beta is really stable, but might not be the case this year of course

Same here. I did do a backup days ago but another one again tonight

Anyone else going to skip the keynote and jump straight on to the iOS 27 beta with no knowledge of it? I have a doctor appointment right at the start and the keynote will likely be close to or over by the time I get home from it.
That will be such a cool thing to do! Jumping into a new iOS release knowing nothing and just exploring everything!

I did that once in the past when I still had the last week of school during WWDC week. But that a long time ago when back in elementary as I couldn’t use my iPhone in class.

It was actually pretty close to happening to me last year too. That would have been a shocking jump from iOS 18. Though I read a few articles about iOS 26 before leaving work.

Just to get the schedule party started, reminder that iOS 16 to 26 for the x.0 branch had 8 betas and then a RC. Also normally betas 1 to 4 have roughly a two week period before shortening the windows.
Also, am I correct in remembering that beta 2 is THREE weeks after beta 1 because of WWDC? So beta 2 would be the week of June 29th instead of the 22nd?
