hmm... option to turn off the buttons controlling the volume? so the volume buttons... don't change the volume.

Everyone's opinion here is exactly why we need CUSTOM SMS TONES! Long or short, personal or professional use, etc. With custom tones, you can make your investment work for you. Can anyone in this forum give me any reasonable explanation as to why Apple would hold this feature back? Is there some kind of security issue with it? I have been clamoring for this since my original Edge iPhone.

EDIT: I forgot to add, those new tones SUCK! Too long and it's like they're all out of a 1950's theme or something.

of course they add new sms tones, but they are to long and suck! what a big fail!

i do hope they fix the flashflicker on the screen after you unlock the phone

Man alive, those are some awful and extremely obnoxious SMS tones. Only Calypso sounded like something that wouldn't make others want to kill you.

Those tones are terrible, they are targeting a 6 year olds toy phone.

thank goodness for the new SMS tones. everyone seems to be using the same 2 so you always think it's you that's getting a text when it's actually the person next to you

edit: ok nevermind. i just listened to the new tones and they are TERRIBLE!! wayyy too long!

Regarding the Ring Tones

My guess is that the dev's understand that sms tones need to be short.

Here is a possible scenario. I think that these are just place holders. They have several 'slots' set aside for new ring tones. For now, the dev's grabbed a handful of sound files and copied them over. That's why this is a beta ...

I suspect the final version will work the same, but it will have different audio files installed.

Hah, when I was at the bank the other day, an iPhone received a message and alerted with their "tritone" tone. About 6 people reached into their purses and pockets (including me) to check our phones... It's simply ridiculous.

We need more tones!

You sure it wasn't 7 or 8 people that reached into their pockets or purse to check their phones. Not just 6?

Any one know if emoji is now in the iPad keyboard

iBooks sync?

iBooks no longer seems to accept my iTunes password to allow syncing between iOS devices.

For those of us who use multiple calendars: was hoping for the ability to change those awful pastel calendar colors. Common' beta 4!

on ios 4.2 beta 2, when my alarm would go off it would also sound through my airport speakers, even if the last thing i was listening to wasnt using airplay. havent experienced my alarm yet, but i am hoping their removal of airplay in spots has helped this issue, its no fun waking up to an alarm that is playing on 125W speakers.

Alright, this is kinda wack. Under beta 2, if I had pandora playing in the background and locked my ipad, if i woke it up but didnt unlock it, and double clicked home so i could get to the music shortcut on lockscreen, there was always an AIRPLAY sign imbetween the "pandora" and volume slider. And yes, it was fully functional. That was the only way i could get pandora streaming to my ATV. Now under beta 3 it is gone.
