So, again..... Does anyone know why you have to sign up for Find My iPhone just in order to sign into your existing .Mac/Me account from your iPhone/iPad/iPod?

The login page invites users to sign in with their Apple IDs, but they will not be able to so until they have set up Find My iPhone on their iOS 4.2 devices using their Apple IDs.

You've not quite understood this:

The login page invites users to sign in with their Apple IDs, but they will not be able to so until they have set up Find My iPhone on their iOS 4.2 devices using their Apple IDs.

"The login page" refers to http://me.com

"Their Apple IDs" refers to the Apple IDs of people who DON'T have a MobileMe account (i.e. anything other than a @me.com or @mac.com address).

The latter part of the quote is referring to the non-MobileMe Apple IDs, saying that you can only log in to me.com using them if you have enabled the Find My iPhone feature on a supported device (it's the only free feature at the moment).

Ahhhh ok. That makes sense.

For some reason the way it was worded came off weird. All good.
