I bet you feel really clever after this post.

Especially considering Android is the Windows of the phone world. I was saying that long before Woz, by the way.

And before you say that Windows is the Windows of the phone world -- I'm talking about marketshare as it relates to quality.

Windows 7 mobile can suck without marketshare, but Android will end up sucking as a RESULT of its marketshare.

Don't get me wrong, if Apple had 90% marketshare in the PC market, Mac OS would suck, too.

On my iPhone 4 I can only stream AirPlay to my 2 Airport Express Speakers. My 1st Generation Apple TV doesn't show up. Either do the computers. This is disappointing. I don't understand why I can't stream audio to the 1st Generation Apple TV or back to my Mac's.

I don't think they are supporting the first gen AppleTV anymore...

8 pages without reloading? You must be joking...but the person above seems to have already conceded...Safari DOES limit, BY DESIGN or BUG, the amount of memory available to itself...something that OTHER browsers don't do.

Thank you for agreeing with me.

I can get 8 pages easily since the first update they released in the summer. It's when I use another app and come back that eveything's gone.

Exactly. Now that I've loaded a couple of pages in Atomic, Safari cannot maintain the 8 pages.

Once I force-quit Atomic in the multitask bar, I was able to maintain 8 pages again.

I imagine that once I have a number of apps open and running, the number of pages I will be able to run will be drastically decreased.

I'm not joking, I was able to move between all 8 pages without reloading. The pages open: CNN, tsn.ca, sportsnet.ca, facebook, Google News, people.com, thestar.com, weather.com

Once I added a ninth page, it did the reload thing.

Maybe I lost it, but on 3.x or 4.2? I know on my 3.2 iPad I can load like 3-4 pages, expect to have them available when I get on subway, take out iPad and it wants to reload all my pages. I only had text on the screen like Wikipedia so I am puzzled why the old "bug" from 2.x came back where it reloads all my webpages. :)

I'm not sure if its because the Apps need updates but right now you can only Airplay video from the iPod app. That kind of sucks... I was especially hopping that Safari could airplay video. I'm not sure why they crippled it so badly.

Download it using the link provided earlier in the thread.

iTunes apparently refuses to update you if you already have 4.2.

Yeah, but it's weird that it distinguishes between x.x.1 updates usually but not this time.

Not at all. The orientation switch is a major point for me. I value the hardware switch more than folders (confusing, I just forget whether everything is on my iPod touch), a unified mailbox (nice but I can manage without) and fake multitasking.

No update for me.

You can still fix your orientation by double clicking the Home button, at the 'Multitasking tool bar', swipe to the left. There is a button there.

I was wondering the same? I have 3 AppleTVs and don't want to wait 3 times for the software to download over my slow home internet connection while Apple's servers are loaded up.

I've already downloaded the file with the direct link posted. Can I connect the Apple TV directly to my mac with a USB to microUSB cable? If so, I'll have to go buy one... Would I have to connect the power too, or will the USB power the unit enough to do a software upgrade? Anybody know???

You can connect directly to the mac using a microUSB cable. You don't need to connect the power. iTunes will recognize the Apple TV (may take a few minutes) and you will have the option to restore.

I'm not sure where people got the idea that you could use Airplay to stream from iOS to a Mac. I've never seen anyone report that. More specifically, why would you want to do that?

iOS 4.0+ has been horrible for my ipod touch 2nd gen, It lags so much, and also the shut down screen shows up with the slider by itself..

My 3GS won't sync since the update.

Whenever I plug it in, it says

"The iPhone "John's iPhone" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found"

Any ideas?

Cheers!

If you are running 4.2 (not 4.2.1), you will need to download the file using the link earlier in the thread, then alt-click the update option, and select that ipsw.

iTunes apparently won't recognize and update a 4.2 device to 4.2.1.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Finally my alarm clock will be fixed!
