I can get 8 pages easily since the first update they released in the summer. It's when I use another app and come back that eveything's gone.

That's the problem: you guys are talking about bananas and I am talking about apples. I am NOT a developer and HAVE NOT yet updated my iPad.

So from your experience, it's either one of the following:

- you CAN open more pages without reloading on iOS 4, thus meaning that Safari is BETTER with the new iOS version;

- you don't know what I am talking about or have never used other browsers to compare on iOS 3.

If they had news about the Mac they would post a story about the Mac. Simple.

That's my point... Apple's Mac business is now like a side job.
That's why there's little news.

Apple's completely abandoned the consumer desktop market except for the All-in-One non-upgradeable iMac and just recently discontinued the Xserve and I don't think they even use their own servers at their new server farm. Boy, that shows confidence in the product huh?

It's as if Apple's ultimate goal is to just be in the laptop, phone, TV, toy, & music business. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mac Pros ultimately get discontinued.

find my iphone

still awaiting my verification email so i can set up the find my iphone on my iphone 4. i've clicked on resend verification email about 20 times in the past hour, and still have yet to see one email to my registered email address that i use for my apple id. seems as if most have not had this problem, as i'm seeing a few people say they have been able to set up FMI successfully.

You can connect directly to the mac using a microUSB cable. You don't need to connect the power. iTunes will recognize the Apple TV (may take a few minutes) and you will have the option to restore.

Very Cool! Any idea if it will keep my settings (does it create a backup file and restore it after the update), or will it create a "virgin" Apple TV? If it does the latter I may just wait for the slow download on each machine....

Are the people who jailbreak the same ones who trick out their Hondas with intercoolers or put erector set spoilers on their Subarus. Let me guess, you wear TapOut hats exclusively.

wtf dude? are you one of those people who buys an iphone just to show off? can't really use it, but just has to have one? say something ontopic or get lost with your lame-ass comments

Who cares about Safari anyway? I can't stand the way it switches between pages. I need tabbed browsing, and that's where Atomic comes in.

There's no good reason why Apple doesn't provide the option of tabs at the top of the screen so you can quickly switch between pages.

just bought a song from iTunes, and issues still not fixed!

I had this same problem as well, where the iPhone showed no content, but iTunes shows all my music still on the device. All you need to do is add or delete a single song from within iTunes. This then allowed me to see my content from within the iPod app.

I'm not sure where people got the idea that you could use Airplay to stream from iOS to a Mac. I've never seen anyone report that. More specifically, why would you want to do that?

If I start viewing on my phone and want to beam it back to my computer without having to load it from scratch on the Mac... Make sense?

If you are running 4.2 (not 4.2.1), you will need to download the file using the link earlier in the thread, then alt-click the update option, and select that ipsw.

iTunes apparently won't recognize and update a 4.2 device to 4.2.1.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. However, when I go to Settings, it says Version 4.2.1 (8C148a)

I don't mean betas. The update in the summer improved Safari dramatically. I can't remember the number. Maybe 3.2.1 or something. It was the very first update Apple released for the iPad. Anyway, Safari could then load around 8 pages without flushing any. 4.0 doesn't seem to improve on this any more.

To be clear - Safari was improved since the iPad's debut, but that was during the summer, not with this release.

Airplay on atv is very impressive. A feature I will definitely get lots of use out of

Can you (or someone) describe some senarios where Airplay would be of any practical value? The only thing I can think of is if your friend is visiting with video on his iPhone that you otherwise don't have access to.

Beg to disagree, but will try out 4.2 anyway, and let you guys know later.

So far this update is awesome. Really nice having the same system for my phone and the iPad.

What I think would be great if there was some way to sync/create the folders I have on my phone to my iPad. Maybe a first time deal or something you could manually turn on or off. Would probably have to be one way from the phone since folder sizes are different.

That would help me do what I am going to do anyway.

Took a little bit to get bookmarks, etc synced but all appears to be good.
