#3 is a function of memory limitations. When Safari exceeds its allocated memory, it will reload the next "tab" that you already had open. The phone doesn't have unlimited memory to keep web pages open, and some pages will use more memory than others.

That's not correct.

The iPhone 4 has 512MB of RAM. I can't imagine a website that would fill the RAM!

This "issue" is down to a design choice that Apple made.

I thought we were going to be able to have 17 different ringtones to choose from to set text tones to specific people...i see the option, but the standard 6 tones are still there....anyone else seeing this too?

Would someone please be so kind to post the file names of the latest firmware for iPad 3g & iPhone 4? Also will the file name make a difference if it was on windows or mac?

#2 yes, as far as I can tell.

#3 is wrong, since other browsers can do that without reloading every page like Safari does...and I am talking here about relatively simple pages (or just 2 or 3 open at the same time), so this doesn't hold water...can anyone confirm if 4.2 solves this somehow?

3 - Has Safari stopped reloading every page when moving between them?

Don't think this would be solved - its a memory issue with the iPad. Even other browsers like Atomic Browser can only load a few pages before running out of memory.

iTunes is showing an update for iOS 4.2.1 for me. Anybody else getting this instead of just 4.2?

I've been able to maintain more than "a few pages" at a time with Atomic even before the update......

/just sayin'

People still use Safari? ;)
