It is amazing how slow the backup is taking! If I click STOP, can I come back to it another day or will it brick my iPhone?

I was able to stop the update by clicking on STOP when it said it was backing up. I'm going to come back to it later tonight when I have more time. I've got it downloaded now at least so I can reconnect my iPhone to iTunes tonight to finish the update.

I am trying to update at work. obviously my music isnt on my work computer. If i update here, will all my music be deleted and I'll have to wait until I get home to put it back on?

Thank you Apple Gods!!!

NESTED PLAYLISTS!!

Thats all I wanted.... :D :apple:

Gods? A bit extreme in the praise I'd think..

That aside, download / backup / install took all of 15 minutes

Everything seems to be working fine.

Check for update within itunes repeatedly.

I tried in the space of a few seconds and it wasn't until the third press of check for updates that it appeared.

Just updated. Takes a good while to update actually.

Oh and I updated from a Sprit JB'd 3.1.3 to IOS4 without 'RESTORE' and it worked with no hitch.

Downloading now in Florida.... damn my work connection is soooooo slow. 40 min + to download....

So is the baseband on 3G or 3GS the same as the GM??

I believe the dev team were worried it was going to be tweaked at last min and ruin their unlock?

So your 4.0 is already jailbroken?

I might have missed the memo, but do I have to install 3.1.3 before I can get OS 4??? If so that is just going to be a big pain in the rear.

For those with the slow back ups.

Download the software. Stop the update.

Restore the iPhone. It does a normal back up and restores with the 4.0 software when you put the back up back on. All you media and apps are deleted but its quicker to put them back on later than wait for the normal update process.

Took less than 5 mins for me to do it that way.

iOS 4 looks nice. My only complaint is that somehow, in all the syncing and updating, every entry in my iPhone calendar is repeated four times. Ugh.

any help for someone with a bricked iphone which wont resotre keeps failing on checking software?

please i would be very great full :)

So wait, are people seeing iBooks?
Cause it's not showing up for me in the store.

(installed GM 4.0 a couple weeks ago)
