iOS4 for 2nd Gen iPod Touch

Don't even bother. Performance is atrocious. Runs well on 3rd Gen though

So your 4.0 is already jailbroken?

No you lose the Jailbreak obviously. But often people report they have to restore their device before a software update when JB'd. I did not. It just worked - albeit doing away with the JB.

However I only use backgrounder & categories namely - and as they are now part of the OS I really do not need to be JB'd.

For those with the slow back ups.

Download the software. Stop the update.

Restore the iPhone. It does a normal back up and restores with the 4.0 software when you put the back up back on. All you media and apps are deleted but its quicker to put them back on later than wait for the normal update process.

Took less than 5 mins for me to do it that way.

I just tried it! This worked well! There's no need to wait for the long ass backup!

Finally! iBooks 1.1. That's the only thing I've been waiting out for the past two weeks.
iOS for 3G is really mediocre. Nothing special but folders.

I wish Apple would wise up and release an official version of this software on BitTorrent, all this server swarming would be decreased I think, at least spread out among more people.

Anyone else having problems not being able to send a text message with a picture?

Edit: Google'd the problem. I'm not the only one. And just do a full restore.

I just got the update on my 3GS phone. Love the folders. Intrestingly, when the OS crashes it goes back to the lock screen.

It's a little buggy still, especially when organizing folders. I've had several crashes.

Here's a dumb question though: how do I put an app into multi-tasking mode? I know how to access them once there, but I don't know how to put them there in the first place.

ugh I need an instruction guide. How do you set the wallpaper to be the background?

Put them back on later? If you do a restore and then update to 4.0 should it not put all the Apps and media back on your phone that is already backed up in itunes?

Just got my 3gs updated to iOS4 and where is the ibooks app?

I did find that the camera app when shooting video has tap to focus anywhere on screen now before it didn't on video only pics

and thats about all i can find new execpt the multitasking ,folders, and mail improvements.

and really the multitasking is a joke it just freezes the previous app window so when you go back its where you left off

There is no quick text reply within the app you still have to reopen the app when done texting

looks like iOS4 is really about the iAds and making money for Apple and not even being able to change incoming text sounds !!!!

we pretty much knew all of that before today, why so angry?

Is there any way to disable certain apps from the multi task? Because i feel like every time i'm going to double tap, i'm going to waste unnecessary time delete things that are in the bar

theres going to be things that annoy you, like when you use folders. open an application in the folder, close the app and the folder is still open. why they did this and not have the folder close when you open an app so when you quit it was the springboard? i have no idea. multitasking needs a revamp too, like maybe a preference pane that allows you to choose which apps you want to always background, which ones you dont. every app backgrounding when you close it is a little overboard.

When you realize it is a fast task switcher, and not a background mode, you will likely form a better and more complete understanding of it, and why it works the way it does.

I have the same question, how do we remove a certain app from the multitasking? Or close an app entirely, so it doesn't show up when i double-tap??
