i don't think i'll update my 3G, until thursday that i get my iP4. So I can get the full experience of the new device+ new iOS. Its gonna be toughhh though.
:apple:

For those of us running the GM seed (8A293), will itunes recognize the release version is available and pull it down or do we have to manually download/install?

You must have had a buggy version of WinterBoard then.

Maybe I did. I don't think I did.

But the numbers show the difference. For something that has to remain in memory all the time, a 1mb difference on a 128mb total (about 70 available to apps) there is going to be a considerable effect.

It's a good thing that the battery life of the new iPhone (and presumably the new iPod Touch) is so good, because the new Persistent Wi-Fi feature DESTROYS the battery in my 3rd generation iPod Touch. If I don't turn Wi-Fi off or put it into Airplane mode, my battery will be completely drained in a matter of hours.

My 3GS only has 70MB free most of the time (it has a lot of mods and such installed on it at the moment), but it still runs well.

Does anybody know if iBooks for iPhone will be out at the same time? And will it have PDF support right away.
That's still unclear for me.

Yeah, but compare that to 3mb on the 128mb. That's why they excluded it. They put on the 3GS, because it is feasible.

Look, if they wanted you to upgrade, custom wallpaper wouldn't be on the 3GS would it? They want you to upgrade to the 4, so if removing wallpaper is a ploy to make people upgrade, why include it on the 3GS?

Except that wallpaper is not persistent, it will be cleared from memory the moment you run an app. That is, when the wallpaper isn't being display, it is also not present in memory.

It would affect multi-tasking when it has to reload that wallpaper, but I think your concern for the impact is overstated.

Springboard always runs. It remains in memory. The wallpaper is part of the Springboard.

This is going suck since I can't just upgrade and know I'll be able to jailbreak it. Sadly only reason I use jailbreak is for SBSetting toggles because I can't use 3g at house. Also like the flashlight app (sets brightness to 100% while on).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

Will we see iBooks today too? I'm looking forward to trying it. :p

Edit: answered already it seems... Carry on!
