Nothing new

i got the GM version, and it has done nothing new restoring the phone.
is everyone really having all these problems? it has been running great for me for weeks now.

multi-tasking for the win.
i did notice sluggish performance on my roommates iPhone 3g. why release it when it just makes usability worse?

This feature was listed on several sites... but after doing more digging, I've found out that though the feature was in all of the Betas of iOS4, it was removed from the GM.

That's a shame, it could have even had the option of picking which app to open quickly like before...

Any idea where I can get the color bars wallpaper in the Gizmodo article?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Let me preface this complaint by saying I love many of these changes and am very excited to get home and install this.

That said, there's one missing thing that just drives me nuts. Allow different email accounts to have different signatures, PLEASE. For anyone who has to have a sig on their work email, it's very annoying to have it on personal email. And what makes this so maddening is that it would be the easiest option in the world to offer.

I don't get why people are saying iOS4 on a 3G is bad. My experience has been great. Things feel a bit snappier and I've been able to enjoy all the new features the iPhone 3G is allowed to do without any lags or crashes.
Perhaps you don't have thousands of SMSs, music files, photos etc.

SMS app takes twice more time to launch than on iOS 3.

This may be a stupid question but is the Fast App Switching available on the 3G? I know the fancy multitasking isn't.

Also, those of you that are saying it's unusable on the 3G, mine's running great, much snappier.

iPhone 3G "Tap to focus video?"

The "Important Information" when I go to download iOS4 for my iPhone 3G specifically states "Tap to focus for Video **" and then "** Only for 3G, 3GS, and 4."

(Paraphrased from memory.)

So, does this mean the 3G just gained video recording? Or even tap-to-focus for photos?

Wallpapers? Revolutionary! I bet the other phone companies copy Apple on that feature.

lol... I would love to have the "live & moving" wallpapers I have seen on some of the Android phones! Maybe that will be Steve-O's next "revolutionary" invention in a couple years..

I don't think apple will allow video recording on 3G due to it only being 15 FPS

3G low memory with iOS4

Free memory reports only 2.5mb memory free on my 3G with iOS4. Memory optimization takes it lower most of the time! So DO NOT RECOMMEND TO UPDATE ON iPhone 3G...

After seeing what a page with Categories on it looks like compared with Apples version Folders, Apple looks meh.

I can't bring myself to install it... I am forcing myself to wait until I get my iPhone 4 on Thursday. I want to experience all the new stuff at once and on the new phone.

I want to experience the new hardware and software all at once, not play out all the new software and then not be impressed by it when I get the new hardware.

Its gonna be a long wait until Thursday.

I just tried tap to focus on my 3G and there wasn't any. Just zoom.

Most likely you haven't loaded up your phone to bring it to a crawl. In other words, the same phenomenon on a desktop/laptop where people complain the system is slow and then come to find out they've flooded their system with a lot of system intensive junk that is poorly developed.

Well if you're using a 3G you're really not going to be excited anyway. Half the major features are missing.

Hi all, this is my first post here. Longtime reader and lurker.

So I'm amazed that many folks here are facing long upgrade times of between 45 minutes to 3 hours. It's gotten me quite worried.

I got home from work, hooked up my 3GS and iOS4 was fully downloaded and installed in probably 20-25 minutes.

Did something go wrong? My iTunes says my iPhone software is up-to-date so I'm wondering why it took such a short time.

Anyway, I'm kinda bummed that they didn't include the crossfade functions for the phone's iPod functions, which is available on the current gen. iPod nanos. I love that feature because it seamlessly meshes the music just like my own personal radio station. Anyone else enjoy this feature too?
