How do you make a folder?

Drag and drop an icon onto another icon. It will then create a folder, and allow you to rename it.

According to the article I need to click "Checking for Updates" in iTunes. I don't have that button! I only have a "Check for Updates" button! Why am I blocked from getting the update?!? Is Apple screwing me cause I only have a 3Gs?

Did you just pull that out of your hat? I sync my phone multiple times a day and my backup time was still quite lengthy.

Also depends on how many photos you have in your Camera Roll. Each time the phone backs up it backs everything up in your Camera Roll so it's best to sync these to iPhoto or whatever and then put them on your phone. That will shorten your backup time (it did quite a bit for me)

why is my backup taking an eternity

My backup seems to take eternity! I usually backup everytime I sync my phone so it isn't like I don't have a recent backup. Why is it doing this? Tempted to say forget and wait till iPhone 4 on Thursday.

Frustrated. I don't like it when it doesn't make sense. Apple should ask, do you have recent backup of all apps? Select yes, then skip this crap!! If no, then choose no and enjoy the interminably long backup the installer takes.

Does it matter if I upgrade my 3G to 4.0 today as I am expecting a iPhone4 on Thursday. Would it be a smoother transition if I am already restoring for a ios4 backup, a opposed to a 3.1?

So, I downloaded iBooks that says "This app is designed for both iPhone and iPad", and yet it doesn't copy to my iPhone....bah!

Open this link in Safari on your phone and download. It failed a few times for me, but after 5 tries, it worked

I just updated my 16Gb 3G and when I went to the app store to get iBooks it said it was only for the iPad whats up with that? I knew that there was no multitasking but I thought I would still get the ibooks app?

try downloading it to the phone directly first, that's what I did and it worked (after agreeing to the new terms and conditions)

No joy; the app store is now listing version 1.0.1 again, and direct app on phone says it's available on iPad only.

I know us 3G owners are now "last century", but honestly, they couldn't even enable us to change the home screen wallpaper? How is the 3G's hardware not capable of that? Multitasking, I understand, but common now.

I heard that it was because of the new shadowing and OpenGL they are using to display the icons over the wallpaper.

After 50 minutes of waiting, it suddenly sped up and rushed through the rest 80% of progress bar in 1 minute. It's a miracle!

iOS 4 installed on my 3G > no problems, everything restored from backup. It's all good. On Thursday it will become someone else's iPhone 3G after the FedEx gal comes by.

I just updated iOS4 on my 3G. Everything ran smoothly... until the screen popped up to enter my pin code. I enter my pin code correctly, and returned to the screen with the single function to do emergency calls

Over and over again... have been trying to restart / reset my phone for 10 times ... Itunes does not recognise my phone anymore ...

Simple - to turn of WiFi which is a transmitting Radio.

why do I have/need an airplane mode on my 3rd gen Touch? anyone else notice this in settings?

To avoid having the WiFi radio cause interference. On top of that it should save you considerable power.

I am confused by this, its a *free* update. If by "worth it" you mean the new features, go look at the release notes and decide for yourself.

I'm asking is it worth it, because I'm wondering if it makes the phone slower than it already is. Very valid question.
