¿Se habla francés?

Well, things seem to be going pretty smoothly on my 3G so far after a very long session of upgrading (the longest part was it took over an hour to restore apps, photos, etc.). Once it was finished, the first minute or so it was very slow to do anything whatsoever, but now things seem to be going as fast as they were before the upgrade.

Two little things I've noticed so far:

• I have my system set to French. Upon opening the App store, the choices are in Spanish: Actualizar, Destacados, Categorías, etc. Fortunately I also understand basic Spanish! I'm in the US, but my iOS is in French (and I double-checked to make sure the system is still in French, and Mail, Notes, etc. all still are in French). I'm not sure why the App Store is in Spanish. Must be a bug.

• My mail doesn't appear to be in threads, even though I see this option is activated in the prefs. Does anyone know if it will only work for new emails, or should it organize your existing ones into threads, too?

UPDATE: I did finally find one thread in my emails so far. Apparently Apple's criteria for threads must be different than Google's, since a few threads I have in my Google mail account are not showing up as such in Mail. I found one from my Yahoo Mail account that is showing up as a thread.

UPDATE x2: I think I figured out why it's in Spanish. I think before, the App Store must have been in English for me, since I'm in the US. Now it's showing up in Spanish both on my iPhone and on my Mac (OS 10.6.4). Must be because I have Spanish chosen as my second language in my preferences on my Mac. It wasn't like this yesterday, however, so something appears to have changed in terms of how it determines the language it displays the App Store.
 
Ruh-Roh

Updated, now when I make a call I cannot hit an extension number when in-call. Unresponsive. Tried 3 times before it would work
Also, ended a call, screen went black. Turned off, got the click. Turned back on could NOT slide to unlock. Turned off 4-5 times before allowed to unlock.
Going to reset it.

Thanks, just found this out...it is really annoying that we have to wait till then, more so when iPad users would benefit from multitasking more than iPhone users! but anyways...:D

Downloaded the update for my Iphone 3GS but when I tried to install it came up with error code 21.

It then told me I had to restore my iPhone but when I click on restore it extracts the software, verifies with Apple and prepares the phone for restoring.

Then it goes to a box saying "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (21).

has anyone else had this one, I've a feeling I might have had this one two years ago when I updated my original iPhone to OS2 on the day of release and Apples servers couldn't cope.

Please help anyone, I'm starting to panic..................

I'm haveing exact same problem, tried all the suggestions on Apple's support pages, does anyone have any advice??
 
A question about the camera; what was changed? All I can see on Apple's site is 5X zoom. Is that just an iPhone 4 feature or am I missing something? Also when i first took a picture and tried to send it, it gave me several size options to send in. Now it's not doing that.

I synced my iPhone with iTunes (so I could arrange my folders and apps faster via the iTunes interface) and after I disconnected the phone the iPod player seems to work fine again. Not sure what the deal was.
 
faces & places feature? where is it?

Hello, I can't find the faces & places feature inside "photos" ....anybody figure it out?
 
Is anyone's Google Sync (Microsoft Exchange) working?

My e-mail account is coming with Connection Timed out.

Sorry if it's already been addressed.

If you have a 3GS then there is the digital zoom slider (tap the screen to see it). You also get touch to focus in the video camera mode.

On the iPhone 4 I believe you can also select which of the 2 cameras you want to use.

Also, taking pictures is now SUPER FAST. You can take a rapid number of shots in succession which is nice.
 
I'm three hours into the install on my 3G and do not see an end in sight (everything finished downloading at 1:25 pm). Any advice???
 
Backup-Broken

After half an hour waiting for backup, might have reached 1/2 of 1%.

Apple can make the iPhone and IOS4, but is too lazy or stupid to make a backup program that works on the iPhone.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Jobs is an idiot!
 
Disappointing changes in Contacts app

The "New Contact" and the "Edit contact" screens in the iOS 4 Contacts app have been heavily changed. To worse!

Gone are the elegance, the simplicity and the easy understanding of what to do to add a new phone number, or a new address, etc.

Why bother to change what was quite perfect?

Also, still no "Duplicate contact" function (as there is in the Mac OS app), that I have repeatedly requested to Apple feedback, which would be very useful when you have to add several contacts of the same company or organization (name of company, fixed phone lines, postal address and domain of the email address are the same, so duplicating the first added contact you can easily add several further persons simply changing name, surname, mobile phone number and the first part of email address)

Hold down the first app you want to include in a folder so that you get the screen that allows you to rearrange your apps. Drag that app on top of the app you would like in the same folder. That should be it.

Wish I could actually do this but I'm still waiting for my phone to back-up. But this is how they did it in the demo.
 
Finally after messing around with this update and waiting for the backup to complete...finally got it in on workaround (reach around??)

alt + restore (only if you have a recent backup) and restore from the new ios4 file. your phone will wipe but after ios4 is installed...use the backup and it took total of about 30 min
 
My phone's been backing up for like 2 hours and didn't get to 1/4 yet. Is this gonna take 8 hours or what??? Can i skip this backing up somehow??

This might sound dumb, but have you tried to do a restore again? Try it twice. Also try rebooting both your computer and your device. If it still doesn't work, re-download the update file from Apple, it could have had some download issue that's not being caught upfront.
