OMG! YES!!!

What the **** is going on?

Even my ipad is not getting its mail. I deleted the account from the ipad and now when I try to re-add it using exchange it won't sync mail or my contacts. It'd f'd up. I'm pissed.

This happened to us several weeks ago. I was setting up my wife's ipad and it kept saying the password was incorrect (even though her iphone still worked fine). We changed the account password and then changed it on the iphone, suddenly it started having the exact same problem. Did some searching online and saw that many others were having the same issue and that google was being silent about the whole thing. I worked around it by creating an icon to let her access the google mail through the browser directly (though this didn't help with getting her calendars synced up). The next day it had magically cleared itself up and both devices worked!?!

Backup Problems Apple Support

I just got off the phone with Apple support about my slow backup 3+ hours.

They said that it is due to busy server issues. Apparently, although I'm not sure I believe it, the backup process communicates with Apple servers and they are flooded now. She said 3-4 hours for backups are common now.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. And yes this is starting to make me mad. It has to be something in the public release because as I said, It worked flawlessly in the GM edition but it confuses me because both the GM and the public release are the same build number. I even tried restoring my iPod and it's still not working. I should've waited until 4.1 or something.

Google servers have been swamped with the update as all the phones are pulling down contacts/mail/calendars. It will just take time, no underlying problems with sync.

on the 3G (non-3GS), lock orientation does not work, wallpaper does not work, and of course multi-tasking isn't available either.

can someone please tell me if there having problems installing it the software it downloaded fine but now its taking ageds :mad:

sorry if it has already been mentioned theres to many pages !

So you are telling me everything will work itself out?

I just finished restoring my ipad, which I guess was affected by the servers being busy???

I'll re-add my gmail account to my iphone using the exchange method and just hope it works........later, when the servers aren't busy?

It looks to me as if the update reduced all my photo albums to icon resolution. I'll have to check to see if this happened in iPhoto as well...

Figured it out.

uncheck the sync photos option (let it delete the photos from the phone)
Sync
re-enable the sync photos option
sync

all your pictures will be re-optimized and will look like you expect!

Why do my photo libraries look like crap as a wallpaper (resolution reduced) but the stock wall papers look great (resolution fine)?

When I view the images in a slideshow they still have their high resolution...

I got the same issue in GM ...so, the little trick was re-sync your photo library...you'll notice it will be "optimizing photos..." in itunes...

That was all! and it's fixed!

Saved my life..........

Thanks for the last advice jbellanca, redownloaded the update, it's installed and now restoring.

You're a lifesaver, thanks again.

See yourself:

iPhone OS 3 vs. iOS 4

Doesn't really bother me.

Faster on my 3G!

My iPhone 3G is responding quite a bit faster than I'm used to - I've just been doing basics like putting my stuff into folders, but swiping between screens is faster and smoother, as is switching from app back to home screen.

Is anyone else getting this? I am on O2 and it keeps on telling me to update my carrier settings every time i plug it into iTunes. I have a 16GB 3GS.

Accept the new settings.

It updates the O2 Carrier Settings from 5.0 to 7.1 and gives you the option for Internet Tethering now.

It's been suggested you do a restore as new phone and not from backup People report it fixes the speed issue.

This is common, everyone is reporting this

When you plug it in, choose not to upgrade. Then right click on the iPhone icon in the left window and choose Backup. Let the Backup finish and then restore any sync from Backup.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for posting something positive. I just hit the button 15 minutes ago. Figured I was so bored with my 3G and this little (for us 3G owners) update should keep me happy until we get the iPhone 4 up here

Long wait getting started, now moving along

It took about an hour to go from 0 to about 10% in the backup of my 3g. Then things started moving faster. Now the phone is actively updating and the progress bars are moving along at a slow but visible pace.

I apologize if this has already been addressed, but 38 pages is just too much to parse through at this point.

I have the GM version for my 3G, but I noticed yesterday that the Accessibility Settings are missing. I read that not all features were included in the GM, but I'm reading today that today's release has the same build number as the GM, and iTunes indicates that I'm up to date. It's not possible that they completely removed all Accessibility from the 3G in iOS 4, so I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? For those of you with iOS 4 on your iPhone 3G, can you see Accessibility in the "General Settings" section?

AdamA9 and hawkeye411 thanks for your comments, yeah i did do that hawkeye and its been 4 hours i excepted hour or half not not this long can i speed it up because i cant use my 3GS at all!!

Correct me if I'm wrong- when it's on the "Restoring iPhone music and videos..." screen, it's putting all your media that was previously on the phone back right? Not syncing with your checked songs in iTunes?

iPod Touch 2nd gen = wi-fi worse

My iTouch always showed full strength wireless anywhere in my house. Now, after the update, it varies while in my hand, just 6 feet from the access point!!

WTF!

If this persists, I'll give up the folders and iBooks in an INSTANT if I can revert.

I've been on "Backing up iPhone" for over an hour - 3G 16gig with 3 gigs free.

What gives?

I don't remember seeing that screen when I did my upgrade on my 3GS ( I stepped away from the computer and didn't watch the install) but when it was done all my music, podcasts, pictures etc... were on the phone as they were before the update.
