I think invites could go out by Wednesday.

Event/GM on 28th
Pre-Orders on 30th
Launch Day: October 7th.

could be wrong..but I'm seriously hoping apple doesn't wait until October 5th just for the event.....I've been without an iPhone for nearly 6 months and I can't wait more than two weeks for a new phone.

This is from the Apple Store, it seems to me that September 20 is a pretty special date for Apple (apart from the back to school deal thing)... who knows?

also its the htc announcement event :p

Well, their event is on the 20th, but if what I was saying was true Apple would only be giving invite on the 20th. Now it would be funny if Apple and HTC has the event on the same day, I'll be cracking up seeing all the journalist on the Apple event and HTC's would be quiet as hell

I think this is just when the Apple Education Promotion ends, as noted here:

This is new info:

According to a posting on the Apple Developer boards this afternoon, Apple will be resetting iCloud Backup data on Thursday, September 22nd. We believe Apple is performing this reset for the release of iOS 5 GM, which will be released around the same time of the reset. iOS 5 GM will be the last release before iOS 5′s official debut in early October, like we previously reported. This reset doesn’t include data from mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, or bookmarks.

Yeah. As I said

Being Apple there could be a meaning to this, but it could also be I'm just looking too much into it.

If they are getting ready to release GM, I hope they have been doing a lot of work on wifi sync that hasn't made it into the current betas because currently it is so buggy as to be almost useless.

Well if it wasn't buggy it wouldn't be beta ;)

Plus wifi sync on windows 7 is working a treat for me and my friends

how did you get it to work as I have never had it work with windows

Did you enable wifi sync for the device on the summary page and then sync before unplugging?

I've had it running fine on 10 machines, first couple of betas where windows had wifi sync was hit and miss, but perfect since beta 4 pretty much. It's great having both my iPad and iPhone showing up in iTunes at same time. Tho copying big files is slow, but that's to be expected.

Install iOS 5 B7
Install iTunes 10.5 B7

Physically plug in iPhone

Click on iPhone in iTunes and check the "Sync this iPhone over Wi-Fi" box

Click Apply

Unplug iPhone

Done

yep did that and afterwards sync now is always greyed out till I plug back in to pc

Weird. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling? Think the first 2 betas I had to let iTunes run as admin to work but beta 4 onwards i leave it to run as normal.

Its cool that iTunes automatically loads up when it detects an authorised device too :)

I had to run iTunes Beta 7 as Admin before it worked on one machine

The other I just had to repair from control panel>remove program's

still not working grrr fairly recent clean install of windows too.... i give up with this wifi nonsense i'm gonna kick it old skool with wires lol
