WARNING from Apple

Found this tonight...

"Apple has issued a warning that once installed, devices running the iOS 5 beta can only be upgraded to later betas and the final version, and cannot be downgraded back to earlier versions."

So no syncing bookmarks in Safari, no iDisk, no find your iPhone/iPad, no iWeb space, no Photo gallery. It will be crippled now.

While I'm getting screwed with MobileMe at the moment, you're entirely incorrect on those.

I renewed SIX DAYS AGO, and my account is still fully working, and will continue to, through June 30th, 2012.

As a dev, I'm setting up iCloud right now, with a fresh Apple ID. MobileMe accounts aren't supported for transfer yet.

No, at least not by normal methods. There may well be a convoluted work-around but Apple warns you you cannot downgrade.

To be honest with you, the developer program is meant for developers. It's not designed for impatient people to get hold of the latest OS. When you sign up you're told there is a wait for activation.

I know that but I actually help a little with the development of some apps. I changed my Apple ID and wanted this one as my main ID. I'm just eager to toy around. I'm not an impatient user that's wanting to have the latest and greatest OS.

Installed it

So i installed iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5 ...

first thing .. iCloud works directly .. very cool

Canadian itunes account cannot auto-download content downloaded on other devices (apps and ibooks can be auto-downloaded but not music) (because it's BETA)

it requires Mac OS X Lion to 'over the air' Sync .. i tried it and when the iphone is not plugged in and it says "will sync when <computer name> is available".. which is only when plugged in on Snow leopard. So dissapointed about that. (It's supposed to be launched after Lion, so i guess it's "okay" for it to not work)

to backup to iCloud (contacts, apps, data, etc..) i can take about 1h to 2h to complete. It will also only backup when the phone is connected, locked and on wifi .. if you unlock to say play a game.. the backup will be paused.

Notifications are awesome now...it's about time

the "double-home" button sequence when locked is pretty cool to take a quick picture (with the sound's + button)

iPod is now Music and Videos is another app now

the PC free setup is pretty cool also

I installed it about 3h ago.. really like so far.

Hope this informas most of you

NOOO! I use iDisk all the time. It better stay!

It is suppose to be available until June of 2012. I am sure if Apple takes it away,Steve will get a lot of email and he will reply with quick replies like "You actually use it?" . I actually paid for 40 GB of storage. Dropbox is blocked where I work at but iDisk works fine.

More feedback on stability of this beta build would be excellent.

I installed on a first gen iPad. I'm surprisingly noticing few issues. The iPad ran pretty slow while it was syncing with iTunes in the background. Email seems to be a little buggy, certain emails taking longer to receive than others. I only have a single iPad for development and personal use, and beta 1 seems mostly stable at the moment.

iTunes Playlist on the iPhone 4

I just noticed that my playlists, usually in alphabetized order, are now completely out of order under iOS 5. Very strange.

Are the weather and stocks widgets suppose to be shown on the lock screen? For some reason I am not seeing it..
