What do you mean? How is it a security hole to allow the device to power down without a password?

I wouldn't call it a security hole as much as a loophole to easily bypass security. If you phone gets stolen all the thief has to do is power down the phone and Find my iPhone is useless. At least if it asks for a pass code the phone remains on until the battery dies increasing your chances of using FMI. Of course, if it's a GSM phone you can still hinder it but a clever case may slow them down a bit. My friend left her on a counter at Toys R Us and walked away. Started to walk out the door and turned around and it was gone. Of course no one knew anything about it. Went to the car to use her husbands iPhone and it was already off. This may have prevented her from losing her phone.

I think you're focusing too much on that one experience. Forcing a phone to remain on without a passcode would mean a good Samaritan who found the phone could essentially be stalked by the original owner who assumes it was stolen. Also, the phone can be forced off (hold down the Home button and the power button), so you might as well make it easy to do rather than complicate the procedure. Lastly, a thief could just take out the micro-SIM of a GSM iPhone, rendering the cellular connection fully severed.

Maybe. But apparently somebody else had the same thought I did. All I'm saying is it may slow a thief down. I don't agree with someone stalking a good Samaritan. If someone is looking to return your device you can still send a message to the device. Problem solved. I do agree about popping the sim though. I think someone could
Make a decent buck by making a case to block the sim tray. I don't think it's full proof but would help to recover a device easier IMHO.

Pressing the new page icon in mobile safari on the iPhone opens a new page right next to the page you are already on. iOS 5 used to open the new page at the end of the row.

just updated two apps from my phone, first time since having the beta
first you don't need a password which s great,
second you don't get kicked out of the store even better,
third there is a progress bar, showing you how the updates are going!

loving the new stores

Turning the phone off does render FMI useless, but it also renders the phone itself useless to the thief. And a case isn't going to slow anyone down, just as easily as you put it on, a thief would be able to take it off. FMI is getting a new feature too, the ability to display the number the person could call to get in contact with you to return your phone. Yeah, there are a lot of thieves out there, but there are also good folks that just want to return your phone to you.

Bit buggy - i have three iTunes accounts (diff countries) and when i hit update all it just says 'This apple id is only valid for the xxx store'. Before it would prompt me to login to the relevant account. Now it seems i will have to be logged in to that account before i hit update for each individual app and won't be able to use update all unless all updates happen to be from same app store (unlikely)

dam that sucks, my partner has two accounts, and was looking forward to not having to log in for each account.
we were hoping that they wouldn't have too.

hopefully apple will change this

A case designed to do that would help. It's not full proof. With a few slight mods to my element case I could block off the sim access and use proprietary hardware to assemble making it tough for a thief to disable the phone quickly and discretely. There are no absolutes but if there is one thing I've learned from motorcycle ownership, it's make your bike less desirable for thieves. This could apply here.

Nice to see Find my Friend now has an option for directions to a friend - but oddly it pushes you into google directions in safari - not in apples new maps app?

For thoes who want to see 3D on maps the area in and around apple HQ is working in 3D. Also besides lost mode in the new find my iPhone (which I like alot more) it will show you the charge of the device (how much power is left, if its charging etc). Also The scroll down to refresh in the mail app and orher apple apps is cool I like the animation to it.

Awesome! I never knew that. Thanks!

I wish Apple would do a better job educating users with all of the iPhone's features. I know people who have the 4S and didn't know about the multitasking bar...

Technically it's called the 'quick launch' bar. Since iOS apps don't really run in the background.

Could someone check if you can now swipe in 'now playing' to skip songs in the music app on the iPhone? The iPad can do this in iOS 5.

No not like you can on the iPad. Swiping from right-to-left takes you back to the list of songs, left-to-right does nothing.

Some things I found:
1. You can swipe to delete games from your Game Center account right in the app!! :D
2. Music Videos now sort by Artist. (ie. I have 3 Taylor Swift videos, instead of all being in the music videos section of the videos app, they fall in a folder called "Taylor Swift."
3. You can delete apps, media, and more right in the "Usage" section of the Settings app.
4. You can select multiple photos from the photos app to share to any already created Facebook album.
5. Unfortunately the iPod Touch misses out on many of the main updates. :( (Siri, 3D Maps with turn-by-turn, VIP inbox, offline reading list...)

So it's only happening with one artist in my entire Music app, but it appears they are attempting to integrate the app and the iTunes store a bit more. You'll also notice that there is a duplicate song from iTunes Match, which is a new bug for me.

On a side note, I uploaded this with my iPad, which is sweet, but it would only let me upload one. The unpurchased songs aren't showing by default. Below your actual songs, it has a dialogue box that says "complete my album". Clicking on that shows all the o ther songs.

This shows for me too. It only shows for purchased songs you're currently listening too. It came up for Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" and also for The Civil War's "Barton Hallow".
