POI labels in Maps are auto-hidden when they may overlap with street names. Scroll through the map slowly and you'll see the POI label fade away as a street name appears. Also, smaller/less important POIs like elementary schools can appear briefly and then fade as you scroll, letting you know they are there but getting out of your way until you zoom in more.

These are interesting as it shows a lot of thought going into Maps, though these particular decisions kind of annoy me. Will take some serious getting used to.

Yes, I don't like the way labels and markers often appear and disappear again as you zoom or scroll around. At least in beta 4 they fade in and out smoothly, rather than blinking like in previous betas.

Defaults highlighted in ringtone selection list. Nice addition IMO.

Can also change the position of VIP mailbox in Mail.

I like this new future allowing you to adjust speed required you to activate double and triple click Home. I always struggle pressing it either too quick or too slow. Almost hated apple for this button but finally now it all makes sense. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1344332220.141148.jpg

Maps (in Melbourne, Australia) are much better. Heaps more POIs added (in the city, anyway) and the main train station is actually the first result now, when searching the name of it. That said, still missing a few, including the main stadium in the city (MCG, for the Melburnians), but I am a little more confident for the future updates to Maps.

Although, Apple seems to need to work on their input a little bit. For example, on Google Maps, I can input Monash Uni Clayton (my University) and it'll find it. However, on Apple Maps, the same input takes me elsewhere (albeit close to the uni), and requires me to input Monash University Clayton. I may seem picky here, but when driving to an unknown place, and having to type quickly into the search bar, I'd love to minimise character entry as much as possible.

Oh, not sure if this is new, but note the apple icon for stock apps.

Edit: As Cybiker noted, I actually have a folder named the Apple icon. Sorry for the confusion!

Here is a link to my photo stream.

So I have made posts for Bugs and Flaws, but with the GM nearing there are fewer each beta.
You can post your findings here.

After my phone restarted I noticed a new welcome screen that said iOS 6.

And all of Apple's native apps are rearranged.

New Features:
New Welcome Screen.
Image
No more YouTube.app
Image
In Passbook.app there is a new button for the App Store.
Image
When you click the link you are brought to the app store with this error.
Image
Bluetooth Sharing
Image
Wi-Fi Plus Cellular
Image
Shared Calendar Alerts is back.
Image

Improvements (fixes):
-Passbook.app brightness flaw has been fixed.
-Saving an image from messages no longer saves two.
-Screen does not turn on when volume buttons are pressed.
-Maps.app does not automatically go into Flyover when you search.
-Status bar blending seems better!

You can still upload videos to YouTube from Photos.app!

I tested it. You can upload the video and add info. Same as before. When you tap view my video on YouTube it takes you to the video in Safari.

I don't have that shared calendar. How to get that?

I don't have that shared calendar. How to get that?

Oh I got it.

The 3D data for Copenhagen has definitely been updated in beta 4. A lot of new buildings. Too bad that all the metro constructions in the inner city is visible now :D

Some buildings and highrises, which were present in 3D in the previous betas are now flat. Probably just temporary..

thanks!

----------

navigation bar in app store doesn't include purchased anymore, anyone verify? nor can be edited... verify?

I can only see "purchased" under the "updates" tab..

----------

This isn't really an improvement or a new feature of the OS itself, but Spotify just released an update that has iOS 6 compatibility. The radio feature now works PERFECTLY! :D

Anyone notice that the link in the over-the-air update isn't a clickable link? And when you copy/paste the link is dead?.

Google could just redirect iOS 6 users to a custom URL scheme ("youtube://"?) that would open the video in the app, no? Those are supported in iOS SDK.
That would work, but when people post links on twitter, send me links via IM etc. they won't be using youtube:// it'll be youtube.com/whatever, which opens in Safari—and I don't want that, because I use a different account for YouTube than I do with other Google services. (which is what I'm logged into in Safari)

The only thing I can hope for is that Apple leaves those hooks in, and lets Google use them with their own app.

If not, I expect that YouTube will be getting neglected by me. I have the Vimeo app on my device and basically never use it, because links send me to the website rather than opening the app. If they don't open the app, I'm not going to see that my subscriptions have new videos to watch etc. because I rarely ever open the app by itself for no reason.

This also means that I don't have a history to bring up videos I've seen a while ago.

If that is true then it just means that Google did a ****** job.
It wouldn't be up to Google, it's up to Apple whether they intercept http://www.youtube.com/ links and send them to the app or treat it as a regular url and send it to Safari.

Just like alternative browsers on iOS don't really stand much of a chance unless Apple actually lets you change the default browser that links open in.

I really wish Apple would let you change default apps, change the search engine in Safari to a custom address, and implement a unified address bar.

the search bar is still there but if you type a search query in the address bar it will use your search engine and go to the first result automatically
Some ISPs automatically redirect your address to Google as a search if the page cannot be found. Safari still only allows for urls in the address bar.

The text in accident or construction alerts is now properly laid out. In beta 3 some of the text overlapped.

That is letting you know which folder the app is in and not that it is a stock app. You just happen to have the app in a folder which the name is the Apple logo :D
