Yep, i'd love to add the fact that Facebook has virtually no privacy guards. They virtually give any info to gov't and corporations.

Hell, Facebook makes it really hard to delete anything from their servers. once in facebook, they have it and share it how they see fit.

Not really a great idea to me that this will be baked in at the IOS level. What privacy protections are there????

You think Apple is any better than FB? Everything that you tell Siri is sent to iCloud, stored there, and can be used by Apple in any way they want (including sharing this information with its partners). Check the user terms for the 4S and you'll see this if you don't believe me.

So long as there is full security and privacy set as a default I'm all for it. From there users should be able to leverage how private they want to be. Contrary to what some of you may think... Facebook is an integral part of society now and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Wow. Am I the only person here who doesn't download child porn; post embarrassing/unprofessional photos of myself; upload critical personal details or have any other Facebook content I'm particularly fussed about?

Oh - and if anyone on my FB was stupid enough to invite my to Farmville I'd delete them.

I'm delighted to hear this news! Looking forward to being able to share content with friends throughout my day more easily!

I'm okay with this as I run a few pages and groups so if I can select what pic goes where I can ditch that friggin Facebook app on my phone because it's a pain. I just use it to upload pics with status updates. I don't even have Twitter installed and I love the embedded functionality.

Couldn't care less. I hope Apple is working on some serious tweaks for the new iOS and not just on Facebook integration like BS.

Wow. That's a step in the wrong direction.

I see why Apple feels like they have to do it (Google has Google+), but facebook is one step away from a hot mess.

I got rid of the facebook app on my (android) phone because I grew tired of getting notifications everytime someone invited me to play farmville, et al.

I don't think you have to use the integration just because it's there? Besides I just turned off all Fb notifications on my (iPhone), not to mention I blocked Farmville altogether so I don't get any notifications anywhere from anyone concerning Farmville ever. Mafia and all that crap too.

It does not bother me, for those who want FB everywhere it will improve their experience. If I never log in at the OS level I assume no data will be shared except from the Facebook app itself. Options are ok and I opt out. If they do something stupid like requiring OS level login for the FB app to work, I'll delete the app np. I feel sorry for those who bought the FB IPO, a bubble from the start. Most equally like and dislike FB. Certainly no loyalty there whatsoever.

What do you mean turn it off?

He probably meant that he will "turn it on" and try it out but forgot to mention it in his post.;)

I'm not sure how else could one turn something off that will most likely be *off by default.

*By "off" I actually mean the spaces where you enter your user name and password will be blank and you will not be signed in - a condition which will remain true unless and until the user proactively signs in by entering their user name and password.

No worries.. I have no Facebook account nor the app installed. Can't say I'm surprised, they already included twitter into ios Facebook was a bump away

No thanks. My personal information stays close to me. There is no need to put it all over the web.

Ditto here - terrible news, especially for those who do NOT want to be forced to use Mark Sugarloaf's "Facebook login" every time they play a game or use an app (and I unfortunately do have an effing FB account because of family and friends).

So where is the negative vote option again?

Screw you Facebook. GET OUT!

Facebook is a joke and anyone who uses it probably has no social life, hence them being on it. Why do they feel like they have to integrate this crap!!!???

I feel like Apple is doing it more to piss off Google, more than anything else. FB sucks and SHOULD NOT be integrated into anything, much less the iOS.

Oh please not that junk.... :(

So don't sign in.

Simples.

To the people saying "you don't have to use it"... I know. But that doesn't mean I want it taking up space on my phone. 16GB ain't much to begin with.

But re: the original article... it doesn't take a brain scientist or a rocket surgeon to make that connection based on Cook's comment

I don't mind facebook itself, but I do mind how I now have to log into my account on many websites to make a comment or sign in to play a game I just downloaded. Now its going to be "baked in" to iOS6. Wonderful. I wonder what that means exactly?

If I can't log out completely and/or make myself invisible then I will be skipping the update and ultimately moving to another platform (if one exists at that point) that isn't integrated with it.

Yes, unlike many I value my privacy and don't agree with Mark Zuckerberg that privacy is dead. I hope that Facebook stock continues its plunge all the way to the bottom.

What out who you friend.

What!? Is Apple sure they want to link their brand with Facebook?

At least give us a way to opt out and why to shut it off, at the system level.

It be nice to do the same with Twitter also.

What do you mean "delete"?

All you have to do is look at the data dumps out of the EU to see that NOTHING is ever deleted once posted to Facebook simply marked in their database as "deleted" as to not appear on their front end while they continue to sell it to the highest bidder.
