Unfortunately the warranty is over. But i did take the time to read through the thread on the apple support forums again. Someone there found out that the problem could be handled by pressing the left side of the button instead of the middle. It worked for me. Still funny though, because for me and others on this thread the problem occurred right after the software update. But this solution points to a hardware issue after all.

This leaves me frustrated still. it's just a frustration of another kind.

my phone is 16 months old and now i need to repair it, at my own cost. I was just using it the way it was intended to be used.

PS: this is the second time Apple really disappointed me. First was when after the iOS 7 update my iPad 3 was made unusable (super-laggy typing).
Seems like Apple might repair for it you based on the latest news about this: https://www.macrumors.com/2014/04/25/iphone-5-sleepwake-replacement/

I restored my iphone 4 to 7.1.1 and the keyboard responsiveness is great, swiping through pages now is very smooth and no lag in any circumstances although I took a screenshot of this bug and I admit, I laughed a bit :)). Both apps were perfectly functional and they were acting like 2 different apps. Image

Thats an iPhone 4 for you...

Anyone noticing a change with the signal strength meter? Since updating I am seeing 3 or 4 bars pretty constant whereas before I typically had 4 or 5 bars most always. (in the same area of course). Wondering if they re-calibrated the meter to be more accurate OR if they actually reduced the power on the receivers/transmitters maybe in the modem firmware. Seems at some point in the iOS7 series, including the betas for 7 and 7.1, the meter seem'ed to have gotten stronger (more bars) if I remember but now with 7.1.1 its back like it was in iOS6. Maybe just a coincidence over the past couple days that my VZW signal is just worse due to weather conditions, clouds or whatever.

I think they may have set a higher signal strength threshold for LTE. Turning off LTE sometimes gives more bars, I mean dots.

Can you share wallpaper?

Yeah sure!

Because it goes back to 3G, which has better signal=more dots?

I don't have any inside information, so I'm only speculating here. The signal fidelity, hence received signal power, required for LTE to close the link is more demanding than that which is required for 3G to close the link. Full scale five dots implies the received signal power is at or near the maximum required to close the link that is currently in use. Suppose the received signal power is just high enough to reach the 3G maximum power threshold and the phone is in 3G mode, then it would display five dots to indicate the 3G link will close quite well. If you were to switch to LTE mode, then the signal power would be below that required to close the LTE link, so it would display fewer dots to indicate this reality. If the signal power was at the maximum for LTE link closure, then it would display five dots in both modes because the LTE required signal power is more than the 3G required signal power. This strategy makes for a more meaningful signal quality display because it applies to the mode currently in use.

Well I forgot to mention I was talking about 3G on iPhone 4s. Something has definitely changed as I now have consistently less dots than before no matter where I am. Whether its actually less signal being received or just the signal meter reporting less not sure. I will know in a few days as I will be is an area where I always had sketchy service anyway. So If its really less signal with 7.1.1, I expect to have no service quite a bit.

Now that in thinking about it, I've seemed to have 4G and LTE more in areas where I would have edge and no service.
I don't worry about the dots because they are meaningless to me. I changed them to the number.

I think it's really great that people race to start these threads once a new software version is released, however if someone is going to take the initiative to start the thread, could you please take the time to update the OP to include a nice list of all bug fixes and changes?

There are many out there who are happy to do this but aren't as trigger happy as those who are racing to be the first ones to create the thread.

Otherwise, mods, it would be welcome for you to jump in and do this. As you monitor every post and every thread, it should be fairly easy. It could also lead to a nice new section of the MR homepage that details changes in every OS update. Being that all of the information is sourced from forum members, it would bring what makes the community here to valuable to the forefront by using this info for new postings on the homepage, even if they get sequestered to the iOS blog.

Just a thought.

Well.. I noticed 2 things... 1st I can't change the ringer volume from the lock screen... I don't know if u could do it in ios 7.X earlier.. But not now...

2nd this I noticed when we set a wallpaper which is not a size of the screen.. For eg. A wallpaper of the iphone 5 screen size on iphone 4S... It occurs when reduce motion is on but perspective zoom is off... Managed to capture it.. Haven't tried it with other permutations of reduce motion and perspective zoom

Don't think you were able to do it from the lock screen, otherwise people could accidentally lower the ringer sound way too low or too loud.

Yes in ios 6 and earlier ringer volume could be changed on the locks screen when no music was playing ..

I don't believe you could, and you definitely haven't been able to in iOS 7. But I've been an iOS user since iOS 2 and I don't ever recall being able to change ringer volume from the lock screen, and that's for a reason - people's volume would be changing accidentally while in their pockets, which would be worse.

I fixed the issues press wake/sleep button and home button at the same time wait for the white apple logo show up the email content should go away.

I've done several reboots and it still happens. I don't really care though. Not a big deal. I've got more important things to worry about than my email.

I don't know .. Even I'm an iOS user from 2.0 I AM sure u could .. I just don't have any iOS 6 .. Y don't I just post it on the iOS 6 section and see
