Most devices don't even have touch ID. Submitting an update just to fix 3-4 issues is useless. If you'd been experiencing the bug I mentioned, you'd be suprised to see how useful that animations are. It takes at least 4-5 seconds for me to switch to another app because of the freeze there. A total productivity killer. Also don't forget that they introduced that bug in 7.1, and therefore should have fixed it immediately.

Got it. Not talking about the 5s. Fwiw, I have never experienced to freeze with the task switcher.

4-5 seconds delay !!!! Wow, how do you make up for this lost time ?

i believe that is a carrier policy not Apple.

Pretty sure carriers don't have their own control over this. I'm with 3 who are very "pro-data" anyway (I use 4GB a month on average). Unless you mean carriers in general have pushed Apple to limit OTA system updates to Wi-Fi - no doubt about this.

I don't see why Apple or carriers do this. Carriers make money off people going over their data plan. It would benefit the carrier greatly if people are going over they data limit.
I would too like to be able to download iOS updates over cellular data

Dude, the 2 or 3 posted updates are never ALL that they fix. There are always underlying, non-published behind the scenes updates typically relating to security issues. Not sure what you would expect from a x.x.1 update. Certainly any updates they release should not be considered "useless". Be glad they are actually fixing some items they deem necessary.

Swiping "back" to a previous screen i.e. going from a text thread back to all messages is lagging a lot and almost shuttering. Same can be said for Mail and most other native apps. Anyone else seeing that?

Depends on the phone you have. Everything is buttery smooth for me on my iPhone 5c. The iPhone 4, not so much.

I have the 5. I'm not one to complain typically but its pretty apparent for me. I tried to reinstall the OS and still happening. Weird.

I only noticed on 7.0.4 and i listen to music everyday.

Really, I remember previously that instead of white bars it was just the background. I have a 4s so it might be device specific previously? I think this might be Apple pushing to use square album art.

7.1.1. I noticed it on 7.0.x also

Seems to be fine on my 5, as it was before the update.

I only ever use square album art.

Nothing wrong with that shot, on the lock screen is where the problem resides, see pics.

If anyone is interested about battery life.

I also get these weird shadows around the text of the apps.

iOS 7.1.1 Bug Fixes And Changes

i'm still frustrated with the sleep button behavior on my iphone 5. I have to push it several times for the phone to lock. it's driving me mad! its not hardware related, it started right after the 7.1 update. there is a long thread on the apple support forums.

This is so basic APPLE, how can you miss that?

Considering most people don't experience that, it seems like something else might be in play there, despite the potential connection to 7.1 or simply installing an update. iPhone 5 in general seems to be somewhat more flaky for more people when it comes to things of this nature (buttons and battery) especially since iOS 7 in general. It almost sounds like maybe there's something off somehow in the hardware/firmware of some of those phones that is not quite working well with the new software.

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.1 and my sleep button works fine. Puts the phone to sleep instantly. I don't think Apple missed anything; I think your issue is an isolated issue related to some sort of problem specific to your phone.

Well, it's too soon to judge battery life but NONE of the main issues I experience with my iPhone 5 have been fixed. Namely:

Spinning data wheel (for no apparent reason) on occasion. A hard reset temporarily rectifies things.

Notification centre always opens on 'missed'.

Safari frequently 'hangs' whilst loading webpages, and only force-closing the app cures it - again this is just a temporary measure.

Safari frequently reloads webpages.

A question mark still exists over battery life, but I haven't had the update for more than a few hours so cannot judge this yet. My first impressions are that it seems no different/better.

That's strange, number two on your list. For me, it's whatever I leave it on when I shut NC. If I leave it on "All" it will be there next time I open it.

Another useless update. I had the bug reported on the links below, and it still hasn't been fixed. Good job Apple.

If they fix this crap in the future, I'll never update the OS again unless I have to.

Yes because, of course they are going to fix YOUR bugs straight away, don't worry about any others. LOL.

Yeah I'm sure it wouldn't cause any problems for someone who's using the tablet as a game console or only for sending tweets, but it DOES for someone who uses it for work and switches between apps very frequently.

Yeah I know, but that bug is so annoying that I don't give a **** about anything else they do until they got that fixed that's all. I really hate it when I update the OS version I have no problems with, only to have some new ones.

What have you been drinking dude? Who said anything about fixing only my bugs and ignoring others?

I don't know why someone posting about his disappointment about something in the forum hurts some people so much? Do you guys have to pay money to someone for every complaint you see or do you have some unsolved childhood problems?

Nah. its just a bit annoying when there is an update but no one sees a new icon or any specific "change" so they immediately say it was a bad update or useless or Apple is clueless etc. Folks dont seem to understand that all updates are not with the UI but fix other issues that you may not actually see. In your particular case, perhaps there is an issue with iPad4 and a little lag in multitask. Ok so this particular update MAY not have fixed that particular issue but that doesnt mean that it is not worth updating to. I mean after-all the updates are free. If you had to pay for them, and they did not specifically address some issue you were having, maybe then it would not be worth it. Thats all. So no childhood problems here, just annoyed when folks bash an update because of some minor issue they have was not addressed or the published changelog only had 2 or 3 items in it. Its all good though. You are entitled to be disappointed. :)

My comment wasn't really targeted at you :)

I agree with you. These last set of updates are certainly useful for some people, no arguing about that, but not for me (I'm talking about the iPad, for the iPhone it definitely was an improvement).

I'm not pissed because they didn't add a feature I wanted (even though I have the right to be), but because they introduced a major bug and taking their time to fix it. I just want it to work as it should and don't care about any visual gimmick. The updates are free and they don't really have to add anything but when I install one, I expect at least the older features to continue working properly.

The most important thing is, as you have said, that everyone is entitled to be disappointed, which is the point I was trying to make with my previous message. Also, if we're not gonna rant here, then where? :)
