because it would be dumb to push 2 updates at the same time, the servers would explode. It's just not gonna happen.

The folk updating their device to iOS 8 beta clearly wouldn't be updating to iOS 7.1.2 at the same time now would they? Your point makes no sense.

Apple's servers would manage just fine.

I'm not completely sure, but haven't there been times when some betas were released and an update to current production release was released on the same day?

Yea, Apple servers will be fine.

Eh? You really think that's an issue for Apple these days?

Do you remember iOS 7's launch?

It's often referenced that it's the server load that's behind things of that nature, and chances are at least sometimes if not often that might be the case, but I'm always wondering if there might just be something else behind it.

Why would apple push iOS 8 beta 1 and iOs 7.1.2 on the same day? That makes no sense, give me one good argument why they would do that

for me when i updated IOS 7.1 it was good, except battery nothing bother me at all.. but last month when i updated to IOS 7.1.1 i have got a new problem, that is my phone hangs and in the lock screen i can only control only the accessibility switching icon.. it happens often.. my friends are asking me to reset the phone once, but i don't want to lose all apps and contacts so am waiting for IOS 7.1.2 , and i don't whether that could help me. / Apple should announce some statement while relleasing the IOS , whether its compatible or not...

Um so you backup yes? If not then WHY!?!? Using iCloud for backup or at least for contacts sync is a no brainer. Better even to use iTunes, and let it backup then restore firmware then restore the backup it just created. You need iTunes to restore the firmware anyway so letting it do the backup first is better option than iCloud in this regard.

If there is an underlying issue with your device 7.1.2 most likely isnt gonna help. Certainly I would try the restore but you can do nothing if you prefer. But "lose apps and contacts" is not a valid reason to do nothing since there are multiple options to backup your data.

Apple should release an announcement about compatibility with what? If your device is not compatible for a particular iOS version it will say "you are up to date" and not offer to apply the new version.

Because they might have fixed some bugs in the OS and may want the devices that won't be able to run iOS 8.0 to get those fixes as well.

Still, it won't be released same day as iOS 8. Would be stupid for one reason, too excessive servers load. It could be today or next week Tuesday, Thursday. Furthermore, iOS 8.0 development was started long time ago so it won't be any upgrading bugs from iOS 7.1.1 to iOS 8 beta.

Could be today or Thrusday. Also 44days passed from iOS 7.1.1 release and there is two security issues (lockscreen and email) and iMessage bug....

All the engineers are at WWDC. Don't get your hopes up for this week.

Very good point. They'll probably need a week to get back into gear after all of this weeks disruption too, so I'd say give it two more weeks.

iOS 7.1.2 might coming this month

I've no idea when or if this update is coming but I don't agree with your logic at all, of course they could put both out the same day and in many ways that would make sense. It's the same number of devices out there either way - some will be downloading 7.1.2, some will be downloading 8, either way it's the same load on the server as any normal IOS release.

And 8 wasn't built from scratch, it will share the vast majority of its code with 7, so if there is a bug to fix in 7 there's a good chance it exists in 8 as well, why would you fix it in 7 and then have people wasting time beta testing and reporting the same bug in 8?

another security flaw....Apple common, 48 days passed from 7.1.1 and still no update for email encryption issue, another lockscreen issue and now this..

another week and no iOS 7.1.2 update.

im starting to think we are done with updates and iOS 8 is next in the fall.

Me too, I hope it fixes the dreaded battery duration

Reset all settings. Made a world of difference for me, having tried everything else (including DFU restore etc). Just go to settings -> general > reset > reset all settings, and spend five minutes reentering your wifi password and choosing wallpaper etc.

Since doing that a few weeks back, my iPhone 5 is back to 7 hours usage, 16-17 hours standby between charges, easy - and that's with zero battery saving measures. I'm doing background refresh, frequent locations, the works - no problem.

Gonna try that :)

No love from Apple to 90% of iOS users :/ knowing that there are 2 lockscreen issues, mail encryption issue for 2 months :/
