problems with music app...

ive been experiencing a glitch with the music app. when i go to download some music from the cloud onto my iphone 5 the cloud icon next to the song/album i want to download starts to cycle through the "downloading" state and the "not downloading" state rapidly and never actaully downloads the song. not only that but i havent figured out a way to get it to stop without completely rebooting the phone. even shutting down the music app and opening it back up doesnt stop it. is there anyone else out there experiencing a similar problem?

No problem. I de-installed the app "Where?", restarted the phone and the arrow is gone. Then I installed that app again, opened it (arrow appeared), closed the program via the home button (arrow stayed) and closed program via process manager (arrow disappeared).

I did notice they changed the phone and messages icon a little bit

Fresh Install 5s

Did a fresh 7.1 install via iTunes on an unlocked 5s. Did not restore from any backup.

So far, great update. Phone is fast, smooth, and reliable. TouchID working better than previously. Keyboard seems a bit more accurate, color scheme is better. Menus in Settings are a bit more logical.

My suggestion is to turn off background refresh, and turn on "reduce motion," i.e. get rid of the animations. iPhone flies when you do this.

Very happy thus far. I generally prefer fresh installs and I don't like the OTA "upgrades." Phone is always quick after a fresh install.

Hi

Iphone 5s, three iPad mini's all updated with no issue. iPhone 5c. Screen went black and then came back on asking for a connection to a computer with iTunes. Had to do a full restore from a backup. The update had completely wiped it!

That was an unexpected pleasure :(

I also have just tonight updated to ios 7.1 and so far I am impressed. The keyboard doesn't bother me at all. I hope it solves the home screen crashing issue that I have been having. Like the above user my Location Services arrow has been on the status bar since I have updated and cannot get it away. I have re-started my handset and turned Location services off then on and still its there. Any ideas?

My 5S is flying now! I see now why people were saying 7.0 was slow. Can't wait to update my mini when I get home from work! :D

Yea it's super fast holy crap lol. Especially when I switch between apps and open apps :)

Very happy with this long waited update :D

It's an app that uses your location and has background app refresh turned on.

I decided to lose my jailbreak and my beloved Colour Profiles, and update to 7.1. The speed and stability is tremendously better. I have a couple of issues, though. They may or may not be related to the update.

1. My HSBC fast balance app no longer works. It opens, but when I input my passcode, it just shuts down again. I have tried deleting and reinstalling.

2. My profile picture on my Nike Running app is gone and I seem to be unable to upload one. It takes me to my photos and lets me select one, and then loads, loads, loads, and results in a blank white square where the profile picture should be.

3. There seems to be a bit of an issue with google images. When I'm at the stage where you've opened a small thumbnail, next to the millions of others, and the black/grey box with the lone image inside it comes up, from there, I normally just hold my finger on the picture and the option to save it comes up, but at the moment, it doesn't seem to have an option to save, unless, on SOME pictures, I am holding my finger on the right side of the picture (holding my finger in the middle or on the left brings up some kind of transparent black square, momentarily, before popping up with the usual options, like "Open", etc, but without the "Save Image" Option.

Like I said, it may not be related to the update. Any ideas?

I've an iPhone 4, yet to do the update on that as was about to sell it but will update it now - both to help sell it and to see how it performs with 7.1. Good to see Apple is still thinking of a 4-year old phone and targeting part of the latest update on improving it's performance :)

If you're selling it its better to leave it on ios 6, as that may be a better selling point than having it on 7.

The new buyer can go to 7 if they want.

Observations from an iPad mini

I have been anticipating this major update to iOS 7.1 since the first beta was released November of the previous year. Here's my feedback:

• Faster animations make my first gen mini feel like flying

• Spotlight lag is still present, but at least, transparent keyboard is now on the iPad.

• Still experiencing some lags/major frame rate drop with AssistiveTouch enabled similarly with Increase Contrast disabled (e.g. In Spotlight, try rotating your device with AssistiveTouch enabled and Increase Contrast disabled).

• In Safari, when zooming in, the bottom scrollbar still appears at the middle of the page, therefore interfering with the webpage content when it should be at the bottom.

• Safari doesn't seem snappier, but it seems that it's more stable as I can now load more than 3 tabs without each one having to refresh because of memory issues.

• The animation if you use the pinch to close gesture to close an app has been tweaked. However, if you open an app from a folder then perform the gesture, the animation is incomplete.

• The keyboard update is fine. The only thing I hate about it is that the new "disabled mode" actually feels like an "enabled mode" becauase the icon isn't simply an overlay. But this can may be get used to.

• Scrolling in the App Store and Calendar feels smoother with AssistiveTouch enabled.

• I still am asked to reboot my device when I attempt to enable Bold Text.

I am thinking about doing a clean install, then figure out the bugs eliminated by that move.

Holy ****, this thing is fast. iOS on almost two year old hardware is now nearly as my Nexus 5, which is really an amazing feat.

Next thing on the to do list for Apple: Bigger Screen. That's the only reason use my Nexus.

I can't comment on bugs at this early stage, but my 4S feels amazingly fast. It almost feels like a brand new device. If you're already running iOS 7 then I would update ASAP.

Ipad 3 in most parts faster, but still there are stutters.

For my iPad mini first gen no issue.

For ipad 3 users, try this. Go into any app, say, settings. Double tap home button for multitasking. Then tap the home button once again to go back to the same app. Watch the stuttering animation. This is same across all apps, and doesn't happen on iPad mini but happens on ipad 3. I'm slightly disappointed. I thought everything would be smoother, but some parts are still stuttering.

Same here my iPhone 4 was relased in 2010 and was loading animations as fast as a 5s on iOS 7.0.

Im in portugal, and with the 7.1 i cant use iTunes Radio and automatic holidays dont appear in calendar
