Hmm. It's actually background data.

A few bugs, I'm afraid.

  • Slow keyboard wake is the most frustrating one so far.
  • Apparently no holidays in the calendar; at least I can't figure out how to make them show up. This doesn't actually worry me but I figured that it's worth mentioning.
  • Song lyrics show as (null) if you switch from a song that did have lyrics to one that doesn't. This also affected 7.0 and I reported it to Apple months ago but it hasn't been fixed.

It does seem to be faster on my 4S but I'm not sure whether it's a real performance improvement or just shorter animations.

In my experience iOS 7.1 is the fastest, most security, and reliable mobile operating system ever released. I'm very impressed and excited to get these loaded onto all my iOS devices as soon as possible. Android and Windows just can't compete with Apple in the areas that matter to consumers.

So yeah this is a really great update - and amazing we all get it for free on all our devices!!!

It was just released and you don't have it on all of your devices but it is the fastest, most secure and reliable mobile operating system ever released? And you're very impressed without using it?

I've gotten the home screen crash a few times on my 5. Thought they were supposed to have fixed that... Each time it happened I was swiping to open a message.

Same here. Less stable than before, keyboard looks like a white-out ios 6 version, swiping to reply or view messages from the lock screen has caused a full crash and reboot multiple times.

I hate when I'm too anxious to update before I watch the videos and read the forums.

So far so good, but I don't like the new slide to unlock animation! I'm in my 20s, and it freaks out my eyes.
How is it different?

My 4S feels so much more responsive now (though I never really had an issue). The animations are quicker and apps load instantly with no delay. The same experience on my iPad mini. It's just so fluid. No crashes at all.

Well done Apple! :apple:

Those having crashes have you tried reset all settings or a hard reboot?

No I haven't tried that. Takes too long to set everything back up. And it usually doesn't help. But I'll give it a try, thanks for the reminder.

So far, pretty good. I thought the animations were slightly more smoother before the update, but that might just be because they are faster now.

Also, I'm not a fan of the new keyboard.

Navigating between apps is definitely faster.
Not sure how I like the new keyboard..
Still waiting for touch id to not be required immediately.

All in all solid update.

I think that's a good point about the animations...It kind of fools you into thinking things are faster, when in actual fact Apple have simply removed them. I expected better performance and fewer crashes to the desktop on my IP5S and that does appear to be the case, but it certainly seems to have improved my Ipad4, which is a relief as it's a device I rely on a lot, and I can't afford to buy the new one at present.

It seems the bugs that are still there are very minor. I do notice that using my iPhone 4 the keyboard is still laggy, but better then before. I don't think much more refinement can be done. At least it's semi-good on the 4.

I updated 2 iPhone 5's, 2 iPhone 4Ses, and 2 iPhone 4's today, alon with one iPad. Better on the 4, but buttery smooth on everything else.

Update went fine, but can't say my iPhone 5 or iPad 4 have any benefit, can't tell any difference, had no problem before, as for battery life will need to wait and see after a few charging cycles.

my only gripe is that Siri sounds a bit robotic. I'm sure there was an option to download a higher quality voice before.

the new male voice for the UK can sound a bit sarcastic at times lol

OMG, best update ever? My iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 rocking now!! Thanks Apple.

- Really like the bolder keyboard
- Much faster animation for starting/switching apps on both devices

Unfortunately making or receiving a call temporarily disables parallax effect. You still need to lock and unlock the phone for parallax to be enabled once again.
Also iphone 5 takes longer to boot up.
Don't like the thicker font in keyboard (I should be able to revert to the thinner font but that's not the case)
I also don't like the fact that translucence in control center has been greatly reduced.

Other than that, much faster
