I hadn't considered a 'straight to public release'. Makes sense now that I think of it though, 4 weeks and not a peep, and CarPlay's unveiling this week.
If CarPlay is part of 7.1, can we not assume that the last 4 weeks have been used to implement it?
Shall we place our bets on tomorrow as the big day?

Just wonder what we will all do AFTER its released? I mean what is one to do if not on Macrumors every day at 12:30 til 1:00 pressing refresh hoping to see some new gear icon with the golden words iOS x.x.x "This update addresses x,y,z and other various issues." LOL I mean holy crap what if Apple does not start working on iOS 7.1.1 and iOS 8 is way out til June. Guess start looking for Windows 8.1 Update 1 each day then I suppose.

um curious, whats wrong with Beta 5 that you cannot take much more of? Works as well as any iOS version on a 4s.

Yeah, they are the same. Just released to devs for testing incase there's something really wrong with it before the public gets their hands on it.
