The only genuine "leak" would have been that sketchy image of the early alpha version that looked very fake anyway.

Not to mention that in many ways Gruber is contradicting himself. He either knows what's going on or he doesn't.

Is Gruber the Macalope?

It's widely believed he is. However, Macworld won't officially say, and the moderators delete any comments that suggest his identity.

And who cares what Mr Gruber has heard from this "somebody"? Irrelevant piece of "news" to say the least.

Gruber seems to get controlled leaks from Apple on occasion, usually to temper expectations when rumors get out of hand.

I hope you're not suggesting that the moderators of MacRumors are doing this because we are not.

Thank God

When I read it, all I could think about was how excited I was iOS 7 wont be flat (I now have hope). I want it to be game changing, but not flat.

He might have been told by someone in Apple what not to expect, but not what to expect.

How can you separate Apple from the competition when all the great Google apps are on the iPhone?

Apple already out-does Google on UI design. From what it sounds like they will get their act together on the services end too. I think we will be pleased with what we see.

Since he said leaks, not rumors, I think what this really means is that those awful fake iOS pictures are indeed fake. No real surprise there.

There's certainly plenty of reasonable speculation that may indeed come true. A statement about leaks has no effect on that. That's guesswork, not leaks.

Little that he says is reliable - moreover, to say that "everything is wrong" does little to moderate expectations.

what're you on about? Gruber gets, now and then, little tidbits of information from people at Apple, and he's far more reliable than anybody else out there. As far as I can remember, none of his little Apple "leaks" have ever been wrong.

He moderates the information he gets very tightly, and isn't loud about it. As a result, his "leaks" are often more subtle nods and winks than the usual APPEL WILL LANUCH FLAT IRADIO THIS WEEKNED you're used to from sites like 9to5 Mac and MacRumors.

With regards to what "leaks" in particular are "wrong" (a "flat" iOS?, MacBook Air announcements?), we may never know. And I doubt Gruber knows either, which is why he chose to only offhandedly mention the tip he got from Apple.

"doubling down" What does that term actually mean?
My english is not good enough.

The metaphor has to do with Poker or in particular Blackjack.. Double down in this case means you're betting it all on these changes and you're confident in them. Make sense?

All the leaks are wrong - no new interface redesign, instead we have implemented camera filters! And added a few more social sites to accounts!

The one thing I keep hearing over and over again from friends who would know is...the one word I keep hearing is that some of the stuff they're going to show is "polarizing".
Holy Crap! This can only mean that News Stand can finally be removed!!!!

Why? As long as the PC version includes Finder.app who cares?

Lots of reasons. The main one being that if you use your mac for work, iOS's interface is never going to be anywhere near as productive. Junk like Launchpad has no place on a desktop OS.

Polarizing: as in polarized lenses, as in no shine/glare: flat.

I fully expect we'll get some legitimate leaks coming out of Apple over the course of the next 24 hours, even if they're very minor. I believe Apple gets more lax right before a big event like this, if not outright encourages leaks to get a buzz going. From Apple's perspective, none of their competition is going to get much advantage in the few hours before Tim Cook's keynote, and it gets everyone excited for what they have to announce.
