It was the "Increase Contrast" setting. Now it seems it turns off transparency. A welcome change, in my opinion. The more customization options, the better.

Yes, I wanted to update my post too. The new setting does disable transparency. I still believe that transparency looks great, but it's good to have options.

YEah.co.ukthat.co.ukwas.co.ukreally.co.ukannoying! (I'm in the UK, hated that it was even .co.uk not .com... nobody uses .co.uk! lol)

Ha.… ah now I see the holding . Gives you the option for . Or …

Things I've noticed:

Bookmarks bar displays in Safari again on iPad.
Bookmarks bar drops to bottom of screen instead of stopping half way.
Had re-enable Keychain in iCloud settings.
Job serve app now works again.

That Keychain thing was in the release notes.

Hey did anyone notice this...?
Nice right?

I think it was in beta 2.. there was something different about it I remember. Not sure if it was on 1 though.

My folder "backgrounds" are now a light green in b3.

I changed wallpaper a couple weeks ago to one with lighter colors than my previous and really liked the way it looked. When my phone started back up after the OTA update, I immediately noticed the light green, which doesn't blend with the wallpaper like it used to. And, to be honest, I now cannot recall what it looked like 30 minutes ago. :)

I remember reading something about a feature that would take the "average" colour of something and apply that to something else to make it seem to fit in better... maybe that was the folder icons on the home screen background it was talking about it!

Just noticed, the camera access from lock screen has some updates.
They added a more noticeable bounce effect if you release it 1/4 way up.
Also now when you do that, it only moves the text parts of your lock screen without moving the background image. Cool effect.

Going into the "Next" options inside photos is still crashing every second time. No big though.

Try this... on the lock screen, drag the camera icon to somewhere near the top then "throw" it towards the bottom... :-D

Animations are smoothed out now at least. Things were a bit jumpy before, but it's a beta.

Podcasts app is working a lot smoother than previously... I can actually download my podcasts now! and they stay! and play! and the app doesn't lock up!
I can finally start doing Couch to 5K again now :-D

Biggest change I've noticed is that they've ditched transparency. The Control Center, Notification Center, the volume adjuster, Safari address bar and bottom icons, video controls, and much more are not transparent at all anymore on my iPhone 5. Haven't seen mention of it anywhere else. Elements are still transparent on my freshly-updated iPad. Attached a few photos of the phone. Cheers!

EDIT: As mentioned below, the "Increase Contrast" setting will make transparency go away now. I actually prefer this a little better!

honestly, I thought transparency was confusing, effect for the sake of having an effect.. but that's just my humble opinion; glad they got rid of it.

thanks for sharing

Yeah! I thought I was the only one that preferred the helvetica neue ultra light font.

Why do people resist change for the sake of what they are used to instead of what is better? :(

Readability. On some backgrounds the text was hard to read even for my 20/20 vision(with glasses). Don't even get me started about out in sunlight.

They have to design for the masses and take into account not everyone has perfect vision. Thicker fonts are much easier to read. It's not like they made them grossly thicker, just refined a bit.

I didn't know that you can hold the ,com button down in ios 6 until this article.

Do able on all iOS's. But like a lot of things in OS , unless you are part of the secret club , you don't get to find it out unless someone shows you.

I miss the transparency on the volume icon. I like to be able to see through that for when watching videos

Sounds quite snobbish to be honest. Better at what? Even on many screenshots the font was not legible at all, especially with the wrong background. Not to mention that legibility has already suffered since the shadings have been removed in favour of the 'flat' design. Helvetice Neue Ultra Light was never meant to be used either for smaller text, body text or interfaces, but as a heading font for bigger text sizes. Keeping it would have been an affront to good UI design.

Are you using ios 7? It's functionality is beyond that of ios 6:). ...Not snobbish, but, it's true with anything, people like something, get used to it and don't want it to be different because they already like it, want it to stay the same, improve upon it, but don't change it. I have found openness to new things allows you to have better experiences, you miss out if you are looking at something that is new, from the perspective of the old thing.

I don't find iOS 7 to be "flat" at all, (and I read that everywhere). It is nicely layered and has more "depth" to it overall, more like a true "2.5D", than the old of faux "3D" icons appearing to float on top of a truly flat background, no layering w/transparency anywhere. ...I'm sure the transparency effect within the layers is still being worked on.

It's a shame about the fonts. Messages look bold now and everything else is starting to look more like ios 6. Why not keep the thinner font and provide an accessibility option for those that struggle to read it?

I doubt this. The Twitter app is one of my most used apps.

And it has not been updated since last few days. I used it just before updating to iOS7 Beta 3 actually.

So, unless I am missing something completely... I think its something different.

Actually the twitter app was just upated. The blue icon dot is to represent new apps and newly updated.

That is awesome news. I always turned off the transparency in Windows Vista and 7 and it made a noticeable difference in performance even on my beast of a system.

Hopefully turning off transparency will slightly increase performance and battery life.

Are you using an iPhone 4S? I read reports that transparency is gone for the moment on the iPhone 4S. If not, have a look at the accessibility settings and if the contrast option is enabled, disable it and you will get the transparency back.

I'm with you on that. Whenever I go back to an iOS 6 device, I immediately notice how flat the home screen looks compared to iOS 7, despite all the glossy pseudo-3d icons.

you don't need transparency for that, you need cutouts of the graphic elements (alpha channeled .PNGs or ,TIFFs, not sure what they use for iOS)

What I mean is (and I hate to say it), more like it's done in iOS 6. Everything else I like. Even the icons.

It's a funny bug, but I've had one "unread message" for quite some time now! I deleted all my messages, and the badge is hanging around. Even now, after the Beta 3 update.

Sign out of iMessage or Reset All Settings.

I have the same problem. I did both Sign out of iMessage and Reset All Settings, but it doesn't works.
