Haven't seen this referenced yet - Notification Centre worked out that I was on my way to work, and offered an estimate of how long it would take to get there. Tapping the notification dropped me in to Maps, and provided directions.

This was present in Beta 2 and possibly earlier, I don't recall. I remember it even differentiated days of the week and time so it automatically configured to show up on only on weekday mornings. I didn't even have to put in where I go to school, it just knew from my transportation patterns. Smart :)

Has anyone noticed that you can no longer trim videos in iOS 7? Was this feature moved or removed?

Still works on my 4S. Tap on one of the arrows at either end of the video's progress bar at the top, the bar should turn yellow and ready to trim.

Here is something I noticed but don't knowing it is new. On the dbl click / multitasking window onhe iPad you can close three apps at the same time. Multitouch works. Swipe 1, 2 or 3 apps up to close them at the same time.

Works on iPhone too! Thanks :)

actually that is not true either. this is apples doing, by fixing beta software to better support backwards compatablity. i have not updated my ebay app in sometime since as you stated was broken in early editions of ios 7. the most current versions of 7 resolved issues without updating the app.

Nope.
eBay was updated in July after the iOS7 beta testing began.
I'll bet that you did update without realizing it.

The line "... and touch this AppleTV with it." baffled me at first. None of Apple's devices to date have NFC. Then I remembered that one of the features of BT Smart was the ability to detect the distance between two wireless devices...

I wonder if Apple will employ this method of syncing for other devices in the future?

Oh, awesome! I'd never spotted it before. :) (Perhaps it's more recently been rolled out to outside Canada/USA? I got a prompt from Maps about participating in "helping make Maps better" for the first time after installing Beta 4)

Finally, simple Apple TV setup. Typing in wifi passwords with the apple remote was a pain.

I just tried the Google Chromecast today, and their setup was dead simple - plug in, open app on your phone, type in wifi password (on phone) and that is it.

This has been possible with the Apple Remote app for ages.

Neat feature. I hope it stays for good.

No longer able to delete emails?

After updating to Beta 4 i no longer have the "delete" option in my emails when I swipe a message i only have the option to "Archive" or "More" and the "More" option just lets me move it to other folders.

Mine does the same but with the Gmail account only.

I am not sure about this one, I didn't see it in ios 7 beta 3 - when you access maps (Apple Maps) when you zoom in/out it now has an indicator at the top, I gather it's like an indicator on how high it's above from the location you are searching on.

It is black and white in color and appears on the top left.

Note it fades in and out.

Also, i noticed map nav guidance got a new voice? Seems like it.

Read all 9 pages and don't think this was mentioned…

Small fix, but it bugged me nonetheless before. The red notification circle (with number of updates, unread messages, etc) on the top right of icons on the home screen now fades immediately once the icon is tapped. Before, a portion of the red icon would zoom with the rest of the icon as the app launches.

I had the same thing with certain apps, not all, only the portion of them.

Noticed that with the app data icon as well with emails, when you deleted them the amount of emails would still say ie; 3, though there was nothing in the inbox, so I'd always be checking for mail :)

This can be fixed by going into Settings> Mail> Gmail> Account> Advanced and check that you want discarded messaged to goto the Deleted Mailbox :)

Transit Directions in Maps

There is a new option in Maps. When you click on Transit Directions on the location card, you can then choose any app on your phone that could route you there. When I do this, Waze and Google Maps are two options and when you click on them, it transfers the destination address to those apps and starts the routing. You can also install other transit apps from the app store from this screen. I don't see this on the iPad 2 only on my iPhone 5.

Noticed speaker volume is higher when listening to music (never liked the iPhone's "Music" app and equalizer, used a third party app which doesn't work in iOS 7 yet). Very sensitive to it, noticed it right away.

One bug: the sound comes in and out occasionally, as it might when a notification sounds. It wasn't on silent, would have heard any notifications. Will file bug report.

Otherwise, stability improved and the UI is slowly becoming more user friendly.

Thought I wouldn't care much, but love sending directions via 10.9 "Maps" app. Especially useful if sent via email/text to someone.

You mean the map scale?

I believe this was even there back in iOS 6 since about the time of Apple Maps introduction or soon after.

Anybody know if Verizon phones are still not receiving some calls?

Hello I have Sprint and was having the same issue with missed phone call with beta 3. I have not had that issue since I updated to Beta 4. Also text messaging alerts now make a sound. Beta 4 is much better now

The update to the messages app show the first name and the first initial of the last name.

In my contacts, I have:
Eric Wood
Eric Williams

If the messages app reduces the name of both to "Eric W" how am I supposed to tell who I am talking to easily. I think this update needs to be reverted, like "NOW" because that is going to cause a lot of issues.

But some of us have two friends with exactly the same name, i.e. "Eric Wood" and "Eric Wood". I think the message app should show the full address, phone number, skin color and religion as well.

The line has to be drawn somewhere, understood?

Beta 4 issues

I currently use iOS 7 beta 4 on my iPhone 4S. Has anyone noticed when you go to your messages and look at the contact you're texting, that you'll see their first name, but only see the first letter of their last name?
