iOS 7 Beta 6 Arriving Next Week as Final Seed Before Golden Master?

easing the learning curve for the masses. At this point it's no longer needed imo.

I suspect Apple has internal betas that are far more developed.

Interim releases? Sure, but this isn't how you develop software. If your Testers are testing on a different code base than you're developing on you're likely breaking/failing to fix bugs they've identified.

My predictions from an earlier thread:

cambookpro said:
Aug 19: iOS 7 beta 6, no icons changed, minor bug fixes. Pretty much GM quality.

Sep 10: iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C announced. iOS 7 GM seeded to devs.

Sep 13: iPhone 5S and 5C being accepted for pre-order.

Sep 18-19: iOS 7 released to public.

Sep 20: iPhone 5S and 5C released.

I agree with some of the posters. Beta 5 has quite a lot of bugs and to sort them out by next week Monday, and expect a GM build on Sep 5 is seriously just rushing cos of the iPhone 5S launch date.

And the icons are still very ugly. Especially Camera and Reminders.

IOS7 hasn't been what I would term "buggy" since Beta 3. Beta 4 was a huge improvement. Beta 5 is pretty damn close to done.

If using the Maps app is any indication (or anything GPS related), they've got a LONG way to go with only 4 weeks left. It's come a long way since the WWDC preview (which was basically unusable), but iOS 7 is nowhere near ready.

Well first the builds we get as developers are usually about a week or so behind what Apple engineers are using. So the build we're getting next Monday was probably built early this week.

With that in mind, its about a month more development before GM in September. That's enough time to get the bugs they have left.

I think IOS 7 is almost 100% but apps need to get updated to work with it or its going to frustrate Users

Once that is done IOS 7 should be fine after Gold Master

I'm using Maps daily - what issues are you having? It was super buggy in beta 1. Now I haven't had any issues at all.

OS9 ---> OSX exciting? Much in the same way Russian Roulette is exciting. Cheetah was a POS it should have been named OS Panic.

I meant "exciting" as in something really new and different. And the transition was definitely that. Of course, OS X didn't become usable til 10.1, and actually good til 10.2.

Watch Apple change most of them in the GM just to mess with us for three months :D

Wishful thinking. iOs 7 needs a jailbreak asap as well as new winterboard themes. That should fix the asthetic issues. I'll even take an ios 6 theme for ios 7 lol

This is by far the most excited I've been for an OS, for like, ever. I can't wait to install it come September.

I'm sorry you're life is otherwise so dull.

It will look cuter than iOS 6. That's the way Apple is going these days.

From what I've seen there isn't a lot of new functionality, which is very sad.

For the first time since I bought an iPhone years ago I'm looking at alternatives.

Why would wish for other people's failure? You must be fun to be around.

I wish for it to go badly so that it shakes Apple's complacency. I've left Apple for a reason - I'm looking forward to the day I have a reason to return.

Incidentally, I personally wouldn't refer to Apple as a 'person'. To me it's nothing more than a profit-making company. If you were referring to Apple employees, if Apple fails, the good ones will find other opportunities.

Your mother is probably smarter than you give her credit for. She can probably spell "accustomed" correctly.

iOS 7 is much, much better than iOS 6. It's fast and — yes — intuitive.

Why do people complaining about the usability of iOS 7 always mention OTHER people having POSSIBLE issues with it? Never themselves, always those OTHER people who aren't smart enough to figure it out. Riiiiight.

Me. I'm going to have problems using it.

If I update, for instance, I'm going to miss being able to just look at my text messages and read them. I'm going to hate figuring out the focal points of apps that have no frame. I'm going to miss the delight I've had with my iPhone.

Maybe I'll get used to it, but if I wanted something adequate that I'd eventually accept, I wouldn't be an Apple user.

Not a lot of new functionality?

From the top of my head : Background app updates, Control Center, Background app refreshing, completely overhauled notification center, Airdrop, Apps can now send files via iMessage, iTunes Radio, thumbnail preview in multitasking, shared photo streams, photo filters, live backgrounds.

Most of these already improved my iOS experience in concrete ways.

But I`m sure you'll find a way to dismiss every one of these by saying that it's just catching up or useless features that exist in 3rd party apps, but the fact is, in term of user facing features, iOS 7 is the biggest update yet.

I've read lots of comments like this for years now, but I can't for the life of me figure out what this "new functionality" that the "alternatives" offer actually is.

Would you be so kind to name a few things you're missing from your cell phone? Surely you're not talking about automatically pausing the basketball game when you happen to doze off while holding a newborn, right? :)

I predict that Apple will be forced to offer downgrade rights for the iPhone 5S back to iOS 6.x because I certainly will not be upgrading to an iPhone 5S unless if they either fix the usability issues with iOS 7 or offer a downgrade to iOS 6 on the new devices.

iOS 7 is Apple's Vista. A button is supposed to stand out of the background. Text is supposed to stand out from the background colour. Thin fonts are bad for accessibility.

They need to either offer a downgrade option of reverse course and an update that restores some of the iOS 1/2/3/4/5/6 look and feel or they will see the death of iOS.

I have been an iOS user since the beginning. iOS 7 is a visceral betrayal. The hipsters and bloggers loving it will not save iOS.

My next phone might be a dumb phone.

soon

I'm actually excited about the new OS version but I hope the lettering isn't too light colored.

Did you try iOS7 beta 5? I believe since beta 3 they made the fonts thicker and since then they have improve a lot on readability
