Two Finger Swipe for Settings?

One finger swipe can bring down the notification center. And two finger swipe can bring down settings.

(The buttons in settings can be replaced with icons.)

As a Android Note 2 owning fanboi it does not matter what Apple does or what you guy's think. You guys and gals are the minority and the huge amount of Apple users don't care about these features and will buy regardless. Apple has done an excellent job with brand recognition and can sale used toilet paper as long as the Apple logo is front and center.
Apple will never be willing to do drastic changes unless you guys put away the money. Hence my reason for buying a Note 2.
And you can't really complain because your still throwing money at Apple's feet for the fine job their doing.

I don't like the implementation of Widgets here. I'd much rather have widgets right on the home screen, or kept in the Notification Centre as they are currently. Double tapping an app icon for me isn't very intuitive. Plus, if the double tap doesn't register properly for whatever reason then you end up launching the full app.

As well, having quick-access settings being tied to the Settings app icon is a little counter-intuitive. You'd have to first locate the app icon. I think it's best to have those settings in the multitask bar or somewhere in Notification Centre. Somewhere where they can be accessed from within any app. But perhaps we're stuffing too much into the current design of iOS.

Perhaps the solution for Widgets and quick-access settings will require some re-thinking of the fundamentals of iOS. Watching this demo made me feel like it's just tacked-on to the rigid grid system home screen.

I do like Mission Control and Quick Reply. Though for Quick Reply I'd like to be able to see the message I'm replying to while I'm replying.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Smartphone apps ARE widgets. Making widgets for your widgets is quite possibly the dumbest "concept" I've ever seen -- especially given the fact that you have to tap twice as much to see half the information in the same amount of time. I need to get Photoshop and start learning if this constitutes front-page news.

Ah, no perhaps you missed it but I have a Lumia 920. I'm just saying this lame update, if it did happen, wouldn't even begin to catch up to Android, which I have already left behind for an even better system called, Live Tiles on WindowsPhone 8.

iOS is boring these days. Was great when it first came out. I bought the iPhone first gen, the 3GS, the 4 and the 4S. Siri is pretty sweet, but the phone is boring as heck now. I rarely even touch the Mini. I bought it cause it was 10 oz, had LTE and could read books and live news anywhere I go with it. But for the last few months I haven't even touched it once. It seems redundant for what I just do on my phone anyway.

Don't get me wrong, still have a MacBook pro with all the goodies. But iOS is boring. It just is. It's like a little better than Palm OS was but it's just a screen a bunch of icons on it. It's app-centric and today we're more social and people centric. Hence why Samsung is selling so well. They do new things and push the envelop. I had a Galaxy SIII and it was pretty darn cool. Lumia is better, but still I'd take Android over iOS any day.

iOS has become the lame technology now. It's the least advanced OS out now. Even Blackberry has better technology now.

It's interesting that the reason we switch devices or system is because its BORING. I remember switching to Apple because it was reliable and crashes far less than Windows. Even though I agree that iOS is somewhat outdated its reliability compared to Android is still superior .

So basically, an OS has to constantly be bombarding you with information to be a good OS? Right. Ok.

And we're assuming the Youtube guy applied for a trademark in the first place... right?

Or is this Youtube video prior art if it ever appeared in court?

There seems to be a lot of confusion about intellectual property in this thread. Prior art has to do with patents and not trademark.

Excuse me? How Numbers, Garage Band or Maps are widgets?
You know they're called "apps" because that's the abbreviation of "applications," right? Just like how mobile apps are truncated versions of the real things. "Well, I'll just churn out this earnings report from the baseball game today. I've got an iPhone now," said no accountant ever. Numbers doesn't even go landscape. Come on, man...

They are not widgets, they are full applications. Come on, man...

The best bet is to wait till junes wwdc, if there is one, to see if ios 7 holds up to expectations

I don't get why every time a concept is released people fall all over themselves to declare how awesome it is (whether it really is or not). Mashable refered to this one as "stunning", Buisness Insider was drooling all over it. Yet this particular concept retains all the skeuomorphism and inconsist color schemes of current iOS. There's nothing elegant about it.

Yes I know the tech world is desperate for changes to iOS, but one would hope Apple can do better than this or the myriad of other concepts out there. If Ive and Federighi can't do better tha this than Apple has a serious problem.

Not so sure on some of these ideas. Well actually, more about how they're implemented rather than the actual ideas. One thing I'll never understand though is why so many people here are crying out for some new radically different UI. The UI is supposed to allow the user to work as efficiently as possible - change for the sake of change is not good practice. Look at OS X, visually it hasn't changed all that much in its lifetime, and for that reason it's users can accomplish tasks easily.

I pull my phone out of my pocket, check my favourite blogs, read a couple of emails and send a message or two...are drastic UI changes going to help with that? Didn't think so.

Just to be clear, I'm all for polishing what is already a great OS, but a radically new UI is not what is needed. What I'd personally like to see is a little more consistency between the look of apps.

Too beauty to be made...and maybe too much.
I really like the Nc settings alike enviroment in the clock bar and
i 'd really love to see the Auxo concept in Ios 7 as i miss a real drag and drop between two apps, such as in Quasar or side by side with the crawl gesture, putting side by side half apps on the screen dragging a file from one to the other beside.

Why is this front page rumour news?

It's just someone's flight if fancy.

Who cares? I'm amazed at how many people are actually upset about this article being on the front page. Did your eyes bleed at the sight of it? Good grief.

I'd actually like the weather icon to reflect local weather and not just constantly jibe me with a sun icon when it's done nothing but rain, snow and be cloudy for months :(

I'd like them to dump the little numbers on icons entirely and let app makers change their icons instead - basically Windows Live Tiles.

Two things I would like to see in the next version of iOS.

1: Custom repeat option for repeating Calendar entries, like "Every 2nd Thursday" like OS/X Calendar has.

2: Option to add text to the lock screen, for things like email address and phone number. Not something everyone would want to use but it should make recovery of a lost device easier when found by an honest soul.

Why would some randos mockup of concept iOS 7 features EVER be front page news. Disappointed...

Jailbreak -> Original?

It seems like all the most popular and successful tweaks available from 3rd parties available on Cydia are finding copies of themselves in the new iOS upgrades. Remember - Notification center, folders, etc.

My comment was based on the article at the beginning of this thread. Widget mode was mentioned. Perhaps nothing mentioned in the article will be added to iOS. Anything is possible. I think this site is called MacRumors.

So it's funny that there are things that aren't in iOS that have the possibility of being added (based on no news)? Gee, I sure giggle whenever I think of the N64 emulators.
