And when everyone one thinks Apple will drastically change everything...they release another iOS 6.

Don't want that to happen but its pretty funny.

I expect a lot more changes than this. Mr. Ive has said he plans on getting rid of textile graphics and such in iOS making me believe that it won't just be gesture changes and stuff like this but the OS overall being re imagined. We shall see, in time.

Interesting ideas. I love the direct links to BT and Airplane mode, but didn't really fancy his version of Widgets. In any case iOS needs an overhaul... 'think different' Apple.

Did he? When?

Androidification of iOS is not what I want; I hated widgets when I had android, quick settings are unnecessary (just make regular settings that are more intuitive).

Live icons would be nice though. Revamp notification center so that you can actually tell when notifications are present. Update the Mail/Calendar UI. Add a true NFC wallet/payment app. Revamp game center. Deprecate Newsstand (does anybody use it?).

It's official. This comment is everywhere. It's the new "Safari is snappier" and "Steve Jobs wouldn't have..."

A quick forum search showed that this comment is happening almost once a day now.

That is probably because the last few months have been the slowest apple has had in many years. Many of us, myself included, expected a spring launch of iPad 5 or iPad mini retina or Mac Pro. The fact that NONE of them have even been announced is concerning.

Given the overall positive reception to this ugly flawed design, I'm glad that most of you don't work for Apple.

basically steal ideas from android and double tap to do widgets....the guy misses the whole point of what a widget suppose to do.

Is your memory really that short? Apples really only released two pretty minor updates to iOS.....6 and 3 were both fairly tame updates. However, iOS 2 brought the App Store and entire SDK, which was huge obviously. iOS 4 brought multitasking, folders, and changed the visuals of the home screen dock and wallpaper. iOS 5 brought Notification Center, iCloud, Siri, iMessage, etc.

So don't act like Apple hasn't done anything to iOS since 1.0. They've had 3 pretty massive updates with features and TONS of powerful API changes. Even iOS 3, which was tame feature wise, had massive changes in APIs.

Its funny how when Apple releases one minor update, people immediately forget the past. Since last year was a small update (presumably to focus resources on launching Maps), I'd say its pretty safe to assume that this year will be a much bigger update feature-wise.

People have been screeming for a larger screen... personally I like the current 4S or 5 size, I think they're fine.

And yet the Demo Video is using widgets which display smaller than if the app was just opened.... So We need a LARGER Screen that we can then physically use LESS of.... Brilliant....

How many things can possibly be done at one time on a smartphone?
I think the human race will have to somehow grow an extra arm to do all that swiping and double tapping while holding the phone.

The widget implementation is flawed... the idea behind widgets is you don't have to interact with the app to get an update.

Here you're still having to tap the icon, so why limit the functionality of the single tap when it could load the entire app in the same amount of time?

Also, would you really want to be able to reply to messages or change settings from the lock screen? Emphasis on the lock...

Because it is one step to reply to a text you just received. If you dont have a passcode lock on your iDevice then why not? You wouldnt have to reply to it from right there if you didnt want to.

I do agree with the having to double tap on the app icon to launch the widget may not be the best approach. Perhaps press and hold on the icon and quickly swipe up or down before it triggers the drag/move icon action. Could be a flick of the thumb from the app icon to open the widget.

for ios7, apple will obviously come up with what they think is best
here's my wish-list:
. "facebook home" type of a user interface with an apple social network
. The ability to turn it off and have the standard ios with more inter-app sharing capabilities

no.

Sorry the guy had an opinion on what he'd (and most of us for that matter) like to see.

Maybe you're a new Apple user but how often have you seen Apple take users suggestions for changes to their products? I'd venture to say pretty much never. As Steve Jobs said, "...people don't know what they want until you show it to them." They don't care what you or others think. Seems a bit of a waste of time to look at random concepts that will never come to be.

What's the point if you have to still go to the home screen to do everything?

And mission control looks way too confusing for standard users... not as intuitive as the rest of the layout which my mother and her grandchildren have no problem figuring out.

Concerning? I'd say its pretty great. It means Apple is better able to keep secrets, like they USED to do.

Products we are expecting not getting announced is not something new to Apple. This seems much more like Apple used to be, when they weren't so fixated with schedules and deadlines.

Airplane and Wifi straight from the lockscreen? Holy security flaw batman, would be thieves could disable "Find my iPhone" in mere seconds.

I like that attitude...

All I said was its probably going to be not a big update. I never said previous updates weren't major...so yea

Please stay calm and read before posting...

But the **** storm has arrived!

All this, yes!

Manages to retain the look and feel of the iPhone whilst adding significant efficiency improvements and features.

I honestly can't understand how anyone is saying this is ugly, hideous, or any other such descriptive word. This literally uses themes, gradients, etc. that iOS already has. If you think this is ugly, you must think parts of iOS that already operate in this manner are ugly too?

There seems to be this mentality on MacRumors that if Apple didn't officially make it, it's hideous. Remember the iPhone 4 leak? That, too, was hideous, according to the Apple fans, until Steve pulled it out of this pocket...
