Maybe you're a new Apple user but how often have you seen Apple take users suggestions for changes to their products? I'd venture to say pretty much never. As Steve Jobs said, "...people don't know what they want until you show it to them." They don't care what you or others think. Seems a bit of a waste of time to look at random concepts that will never come to be.

the notification center was a cydia tweak inspired by android before the dev was signed by apple and literally a months later it was one of the features announced along with iOS 5 (?)

Some of the ideas are good but the widgets concept is about as dumb as it is on Android. Why not just open the app and get the full deal rather than the limited info that comes with widgets? The apps on iOS open blazing fast. It's not like opening Photoshop or something on a slow spinning hard disk.

Heck, I never use widgets even on my old slow Mac. And Apple has had widgets on Mac since forever it seems. I'm pretty sure they know full well whether people on average find them useful or not. My guess is not really.

except that a lot of the widgets on android are very useful and actually give you the info you need in real time. no need to open the app. sports, weather, traffic, stocks, news, package tracking, etc... you can have multiple info right in front of you without even leaving your lockscreen. Google Now is an example of this.. one press of a button.. no need to open up multiples.

I honestly can't understand how anyone is saying this is ugly, hideous, or any other such descriptive word. This literally uses themes, gradients, etc. that iOS already has. If you think this is ugly, you must think parts of iOS that already operate in this manner are ugly too?

There seems to be this mentality on MacRumors that if Apple didn't officially make it, it's hideous. Remember the iPhone 4 leak? That, too, was hideous, according to the Apple fans, until Steve pulled it out of this pocket...

It's pretty ugly. Some of that is aesthetics (the widgets looked bad), some of it is usability (was quick settings really that much quicker than launching settings?)

Right now what I really want is this as stock - w/o having to JB..

all i care about is a WIFI shortcut, seriously, its 2013 get with it apple

Seriously, why are you turn off your wifi? The little battery time you may save isn't worth forgetting you don't have wifi on and surfing the web at a slower speed and using more battery.

Like this website has any influence at all? Let the dude have his opinion and let Macrumors post what they want.

Concerning? I'd say its pretty great. It means Apple is better able to keep secrets, like they USED to do.

Products we are expecting not getting announced is not something new to Apple. This seems much more like Apple used to be, when they weren't so fixated with schedules and deadlines.

If in the next week or so they announce any of those three products and we haven't seen any real hardware leaks, you will be correct. If it turns out that we don't see a redesigned iPad until fall, then they are just slow playing a stale tablet design, which is frustrating.

And as I said, if this is ugly, so is doing things like looking at a lock screen, opening a folder. The themes are the same here.

This is not the only forum in the world, or the only place that talks about Apple. How do YOU know?;)

It's official. This comment is everywhere. It's the new "Safari is snappier" and "Steve Jobs wouldn't have..."

A quick forum search showed that this comment is happening almost once a day now.

Agreed. I like reading articles like this... its good to get an idea of what is possible should apple choose to do it. If they dont care about it... why bother reading, and then making a useless post.

99% of users never turn off BT or wifi, so why waste space on the main config screen?

Not sure where you got that stastic. I always turn off BT when not in use. Everyone I know does. Why have it on? If nothing else, it's an extra processor task many don't want running.

WTF! Wow, shows how blind and easily pleased people can be if they see this as a giant leap forward for IOS. If something like this is the best Apple can come up with then please people, do what I did and sell your iPhone and try a windows Nokia instead! Best move I ever made!

I sure do hope that in a few years I'll be able to still have a computing device I can use to get some work done. Like a computer that isn't over 90% social networking clutter. Turning my desktop computer into an oversized iPad will not help me get my real work accomplished.

as several others above have pointed out, it's actually 2013 and you need to get with it and stop wasting your time toggling wifi on and off like its 2008. :)

This OS mockup looks so similar to what it does now, it's not groundbreaking. Apple will only continue to exist in the mainstream mobile arena if they innovate, not just update.

I can give you an example (for me). The gym in our building is close to our unit. When I go to the gym, I get one bar of wifi (worthless, connections time out). I am left turning off wifi a few times a day so that I can do things like stream music and still get notifications.

The battery saving utility is what is always assumed when a person wants to toggle wifi, bluetooth, etc. I am sure that isn't the case for everyone.

I have interesting thoughts but that is not front page news.

Make some pics, make a video, let us see them, and maybe they will make your thoughts front page news as well. :)

I have thoughts too, just not willing (or able) to put in the effort to put them in a format that everyone else can see. ;)
