Figured this graphic was worth posting for everyone:

THIS! I turned my WiFi off this morning after reading this article, my battery life has improved IMMENSELY. There is clearly something going on with the WiFi that is killing battery life on Verizon iPhone 5. I have the 16GB version.

Everyone with battery life issues should do the basic steps outlined in this thread and post back with details if it doesn't help to trend the issue. It's typically an app or some kind of authentication issue, but there are many shades of grey.

I have a two month old iphone5 and updated to iOS7 30 hours ago. I did an update and back up through iTunes on my pc. I didn't set up as a new phone.

Anyway, after updating I switched off:

Bluetooth
All notifications except messages, calendar and app store
All system location services except compass calibration and setting time zone
Parallax (to do this go to settings/general/accessibility/reduce motion - switch this to 'on')
All apps which are allowed to run in the background except my sat nav (to do this go to settings/general/background app refresh and either switch the whole thing off or at least any apps except a sat nav/Google maps if you have it)

Then I fully drained my battery by playing with the phone until it switched itself off. After a full charge from the mains my iPhone5 battery performs exactly how it did on iOS 6.1.4

If you do not adjust the settings as advised, you are going to take a battery hit. Sometimes uninstalling Facebook, deleting email accounts and resetting network settings is required too. Just reinstall Facebook and your email accounts afterwards.

Performs just as good for me. Tweaked a couple settings (like background app refresh, parallax, etc)

two examples of two similar use/standby times but COMPLETELY different battery percentages. any explanation??
Well it all depends on what you're using your phone for, I as an ex, had been at home since the last charge, so i've been on wifi, and had good coverage. And i've mainly been checking facebook, websites, watched a some youtube videoes, which i played through airplay, so the screen was turned off:)

I am day 1 of iOS7 and have 7 hrs usage, 15 hrs standby, 25 percent left.

I have been using my phone all day, reddit, surfing web, twitter, bluetooth streaming in traffic, wifi on all day. I cannot believe the jump I have gotten from iOS7, at least 20-25 percent.

I turned off parallex, and contrast, frequent locations, etc.

Loving iOS7 so far

I updated via iTunes. I also backed up through iTunes.

My battery life sucks and I turned off parallex, and contrast, frequent locations, and other features.

Usage: 4 hours, 36 mins
Standby: 7 hours, 24 mins
43%

Oh, maybe it's due to using my home Wifi?

Mine has been pretty decent. Haven't charged my phone since last night. Regular usage: calls, texts, IM..etc. (no wifi)

this is actually decent battery life. on ios6 i used to see 9-11 hours of use, 20 hours of standby. i wish 7 would yield those numbers.

Under 20 percent my iPhone 5 dies extremely quick. One second it's 18 percent within 5 min it's at 9. Hmmm

I do find that I am using the phone much more throughout the day because it looks so awesome.

4S now at 16% battery charge and i only got 12hours of standby and 4hours of usage out of the phone :(

Turned off anything that might charge more battery, also did a fresh restore.

Playing with the phone more because it's new has got nothing to do with battery drain. The 'usage' portion of the battery counter will show how the battery is performing. Whether you use it solidly until it runs flat, or dip in and out throughout the day will have no bearing on how iOS7 is affecting your battery detrimentally.

Down from full overnight charge to 55% on my 4S in 3 hours. Might try the reset all settings and see if that helps.

I put all you mention... but something strange here... yesterday after restore and setup as new, the battery consume was the same as 6.1.4, but now after unplug this morning the battery drains 1% every 10 or 15 minutes. I dont install anything since ios 7

Regards

If you have Facebook installed try removing and see if that improves your battery life, it did for me. Now I just use the web version its almost the same anyway.

The 3G turned off most of the time, usually use the WIFI, use of applications like Facebook, email, a lot of music.
My previous version was 5.1.1 and battery time was better.
I charge just now my iPhone since I upgraded yesterday to IOS7 but I feel that the battery runs out faster. I see just the percentages go down.
It is important to note that I did upgrade to IOS7. not fresh install.

sorry for my english. google translate...

i uninstall facebook app today just to check how is going.
anybody doing the same please leave a comment!

You've plugged it in since the last full charge.
