After installing GM, my itunes 11.1 is saying 'Your iphone has never been backed up on this computer'. The restore from backup button is greyed out. I know this isn't true as there are backups stored on my comp.

Even went back to Beta 6 and it still remains greyed out. No option to restore from backup.

^ Im having the same problem.
Pretty sure everyone who installs ios7 and tries to restore their backup from 11.1 wont be able to restore.

I was thinking you could possibly use www.itools.cn to restore the backup on your computer? Im going to try that when i get home from work.

I'm downloading right now for the ipad mini. I'm still too chicken to try it on my iphone 5. Lol! My mini is new with barely anything on it, so I figure it can be a good guinea pig. From reading previous posts, it seems that itunes is creating most of the havoc. I'm thinking I will back up the mini to icloud, even though their isn't much to back up, and go from there. Since there is no itunes involved with icloud, you wouldn't think there would be any conflicts. I just started researching this this morning and I have never downloaded firmware before actual release. So I guess I could be wrong.

I'm getting the same thing and when I try and back it up it says back up session failed.

All my stuff has already been restored to my iPhone but I can't create a new back up

When I try and add new stuff it says it's synced with a different library

Any solution?

I thinkkkkk restoring any backup via icloud is the ideal way to go for now.
And with hindsight i would say to make up a backup to icloud instead of through itunes before updating your phone to ios7

I'm in a bit of a quandry. I backed up my iOS 7 beta phone and then impulsively restored to the GM (probably should have updated in hindsight). The restore worked but as mentioned it will only allow restore from backup in iTunes 11.1 beta 2. I installed the new iTunes but it gave me an error message saying "Unable to load data class" whenever I plug in my phone and doesn't allow me to restore from the backup. I tried some workarounds to the above issue such as resetting my sync history, deleting a framework and reinstalling itunes but no luck. Eventually after much frustration, I reinstalled iTunes 11.05 and successfully downgraded to iOS 6.14.

Now iTunes won't restore my backup saying 'it was created with a newer version of iOS" and cannot be restored to my now iOS 6 phone. Is there anything i can do? All my data is locked into that backup, my pictures, my messages my contacts. Any help greatly appreciated.

I am also getting the same error " unable to load data class ". GM installed and running 11.1 b2 on Mac. Anyone find a way to restore from backup yet

If you use the "Restore" function in iTunes while loading the GM, you can just restore your data from iCloud. That solves the problem. Or better yet don't use Restore and use "Check for Updates" and you won't need to restore anything. You data will still be on the phone.

help

I downloaded both the iOS7 gm beta and ITunes 11.1, when my Iphone 5 connects to my Mac, it responds with the error message "Itunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later" It then goes on to try and sync and another error message "Itunes could not back up the iphone XXXXXX's iphone because the back up session failed. Panicking, I downgraded back to iOS6 and this SAME error is occuring!!!! please please help this is making me terribly uneasy. I backed up my iphone immediately before i downloaded iOS7.

No - you can just Shift+Click "check for updates", select the IPSW, and wait for your phone to update. Barring a hardware problem, your phone will sit for a few minutes, update for a few minutes, reboot a time or too, and finish. At some point iTunes will tell you it can't be used with your phone, but that's irrelevant...wait until your phone is finished with all its doing and then bam - fully functional iOS 7 with all your data intact. No activation is needed because you're not restoring the phone...you're simply updating the software. It basically does the same thing as the OTA will, just not OTA. You can use iCloud for backups for the next week, and then if you need to sync locally, you'll be able to when Apple releases iTunes 11.1 for Windows.

when you say all data intact that includes my phone contacts? notes calendar and other apps?

itools asking for password

i updated to ios7gm and when i went to restore through itools its asking me for a code??? i tried the passcode on my cell but that doesnt work. anyone else have this issue?

Oh boy!!

Own a Windows PC and made the same mistake of jumping to soon. So you can restore to older versions of iOS, very simple.

Connect the iPhone or iPod touch to your computer (PC or Mac). Then run iTunes and place the phone into DFU mode (Hold the Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds, then release the Power, but continue holding Home button for 10 to 30 more seconds to boot the device into DFU mode).

iTunes will see the phone in Recovery mode, so as long as you made a backup prior to this update you should be able to just restore it.

Once the restore runs iTunes will let you restore from your iCloud backup or local PC backup.

Hope it helps, worked for me. ;)

If you "shift/update" (not restore) it will never delete your apps or data. It will simply update to iOS 7 GM, so no need to restore. And yes your apps and data will remain intact. I would recommend getting a backup in both iTunes and iCloud before doing anything just to be safe. Plus you should always have a backup anyway. And yes if you "shift/restore" you will not be able to put any iTunes backup back on the device until iTunes 11.1 releases. iCloud backups should work though.

Any fix for the ''unable to load class data information'' error?

Nothing yet. I am still waiting for the same thing. Hopefully itunes 11.1 will be released soon. I have 11.1 beta 2 and still getting the error and cannot restore my backup

Ah nuts :( it has being doing my wick in all day. 11.1 final release should fix it right? Will it still show up the AppStore as an available update even though I've got the beta?

That I'm not sure of. Hopefully when the public version is released it will automatically update the beta version.

DFU Mode

Can you access DFU mode without having to have you phone detected in ITunes beforehand? sorry just a bit of a novice. I dont have a back up of 6.1.4 or anything but I did however download the Firmware

Yes it will still go into DFU without being detected. Once it accesses DFU mode itunes will the recognize it and you will get a prompt. Just follow the instructions.

Sucks that you are all having problems?
Downloaded iTunes 11.1 from my dev portal backed up phone then option clicked restore to GM ios7
worked a treat as usual
will try again with another test handset
good luck

----------

Update if running iOS 6. Restore if running any iOS 7 betas. iTunes 11.1 doesn't matter unless you are planning on restoring an iTunes backup. Just use an iCloud backup.

Where can I download itunes 11.1 beta?

from your dev portal
