Sucks that you are all having problems?
Downloaded iTunes 11.1 from my dev portal backed up phone then option clicked restore to GM ios7
worked a treat as usual
will try again with another test handset
good luck

I'm not having a problem backing up and installing GM. Once completed I cannot restore my phone from my backup onthe computer. This is when I am getting the data loss sync services error. I also downloaded 11.1 from dev portal

It's true, all iOS devices running GM cannot sync with iTunes until Apple releases the public version for Windows unless you have a mac whereas you can get the beta. Alternatives are things like iFunbox or iTools, those will keep you going

All you have to do is put your iDevice in DFU mode (Hold Power + Home for 10 seconds, Then let go of power but keep holding Home till iTunes detects it's in DFU mode) Then restore it

Has anyone thought to delete iTunes 11, then download the lower version and restore back to 6.1.4?

You should be able to restore back to iOS6 with iTunes 11. Put device into DFU mode first. iTunes 11 just does not like iOS7. Then you can restore your backup. Then update to iOS 7 (update not restore)

Yes, actually I did try that and got itunes 11.0.5 back in but it wouldn't open. A prompt came up saying something about itunes has been read by a later version.

But what about my "restore from backup"? Will that work then? I lost a TON of stuff!!

No it will not. I just tried to plug in my wife's ip 5 on 6.1.4 and it still gets the same message. I feel ya I lost everything on my phone. Including contacts email..ect

You on Windows? Sorry, this thread has my eyes crossed. What iOS version is your backup? I assume you are on iOS 7 GM now without an iCloud backup?

I'm on Mac, backup was on 6.1.4...no iCloud backup

OK when you are back on iOS6, iTunes will allow you to restore your backup. Once you have all your stuff back then if you want you can update to iOS7, not restore but update. Or you can backup to iCloud. Then if you so choose to apply iOS7 via restore instead of update you can restore from the iCloud backup.

See other post but basically you want to DFU restore your device to iOS 6.1.4. Then restore your iOS 6.1.4 backup to the device. You will be where you started then. Then you can either wait until next Wednesday for the release of iOS7 or you can manually update to it using . options+update (not options+restore). Do NOT select restore. That will wipe it requiring a backup to be reapplied. Backups will not work right now with iTunes 11.0.5. You should be able to restore an iCloud backup but there is really no need if you update. That will simply update the iOS and leave all your other apps and data intact. You will not be able to sync or restore backups or anything with iTunes after you apply the GM until iTunes 11.1 and iOS 7 are officially released in less than a week now.

you have to use ITunes 11.1 Beta 2 as per the Instructions on the Apple Developer Portal. iTunes 11.1 Beta 2 is available to all Paid Apple Developer's who by the way are the only people who are supposed to have the GM Seed right now.

Actually I did download itunes 11.1 beta to from the dev portal and I still cannot restore from a previous backup.

Informative purposes only

Just wanted to say I've brought two 5's onto the GM from 6.1.4 dirty with just removing the pictures from the devices, no restore to new, no DFU..... Just straight into it. Both came back into iOS 7 without losing any data, texts, log in's, Wifi log in, apps, all there...... If you've managed to get back to 6.1.4, with an old restore, try it again, with your phone on and everything, no DFU, don't restore it to new. Tripped me out. Since I didn't lose anything, I have no need to restore, so the new itunes isn't an issue. I'm just going to wait for the public windows release to actually back it up, and by then public will have iOS7 anyway.

What do you mean by "Just straight into it" ?? Let me know asap :)

I mean, my devices were on, not in dfu, not restored to new, running 6.1.4, with contacts, apps, data, etc, I used the shift method, and 'restored' it to the iOS 7 GM. When they came back up, everything that was on my 6.1.4 builds, is still on my devices. I lost nothing and moved right into it.

Okay, so first off I am registered as a dev through Apple, but not with the full paid account. I just updated to IOS 7.0 and I am still running iTunes 11.0.5 on my ML server (latest 10.8 version) and I am using a OEM 30 pin cable with an after market 30 pin to lightning connector cable and I was able to update and successfully sync and back up my iPhone 5 without error. I just found this interesting as it worked and gave me none of the iTunes errors others are reporting. Think it might be something with the 30 pin to lightning cable connector???

I just Updated

So i had just updated and my phone automatically restored everything back on my phone, it updated to GM 11A465 correct? is that normal? just confused me a bit.

Yeah thats what mine did. kinda odd

You must have iTunes 11.1 to work with iOS 7 GM

But you can still update to Gold Master and backup to iCloud. Not long until official release anyway. GM is running great on mine backing up to iCloud.

Do you already have iOS 7 installed? Just put the phone in DFU mode and download 6.1 and restore that
