Some updated icons would be nice.

Edit: Sorry about the size.

I was trying to open a shared google drive link from my email and found it irritating that despite having the google drive app on my ipad, mail insists on opening it in safari.

I am not sure what the solution for this is, but better inter-app communication would be nice.

I hope that they add the pull-down notification center to the lock screen so I can check the weather and view all notifications without having to enter the security passcode each time.

If Apple considered everything you suggested, iOS would have been a mess. Why away from skeuomorphism? So you say, they should marry technology and electronic design? Then why is there an envelope on the Mail icon? Or a telephone on the Phone icon? This is skeuomorphism. You take what's analog and you implement it into electronic design so it's clear on how to use it. That's what they did.
Regarding customization, oh seriously? Why in hell would you want customizable status and toolbars? I don't understand how you will enjoy that. If you insist, go use effen Android. Be prepped not to barf after you customize it.
I like iOS for what it is. I'm not an obsessed fan, because fans blow air. I truly can't stand any other phone because I got used to the iPhone.
You people just want too much.

This has been posted before, but as of now the only thing I can think of is for multiple people to update a Shared Photostream, not only the creator.

I have a 4S, and I hope iOS 7 will have some great features for the next iPhone.

On John Gruber's latest podcast he suggests iOS 7 could be just a visual refresh with one or two "wow" features, and saving major changes for later. I don't think he was saying this based on any inside knowledge but more his opinion on what could be a quick win and get Apple some positive tech press.

I go back and forth on this because its obvious iOS needs more than just a visual refresh. But if there are some quick wins Ive can provide I think it would be good to see those sooner rather than later to help change the narrative. What we saw with the podcasts app was a good start. I would imagine there are other things that can be 'de-Forstalled' or de-Jobsed' for iOS 7. The question remains though if Forstall's lieutenants share the same vision as Ive, or if not how much power Ive has to force through changes.

Based on past release history, I was just wondering if it is anticipated that iOS7 will work on the current iPhone 5?

Thanks!

The WSJ claims that Ive and Christie are getting along even though Christie is known to love theming/skinning UI.

I just want more OS X-like functionality. Please, Apple! As for UI decor, I just hope they don't go with a universal theme nor go completely flat like Windows 8. I like my buttons to look tappable.

I can't see Apple doing a complete 180 like Microsoft. But the tape reel in the podcasts app was ugly and useless to boot. I think Apple can clean up the ugly without going completely flat. As I've said before I want Apple to do their own thing, not copy Windows or Android.

Gatekeeper (this is a wish list, after all ≥w≤)
"Documents" app, like a file manager that gives you a central place to share documents between apps. Supports iCloud to replicate dearly missed iDisk functionality.
Documents support in all built-in apps like Safari, Mail, and in first-party apps like iWork and GarageBand
Bluetooth file transfers via Documents app
Adopt tweaks like Auxo and SwipeSelection
HDRI and wide gamut support in Camera
Dark theme (white text on dark backdrop), support to auto-enable dark theme based on time of day or ambient light
Support hiding more built-in apps (Newsstand, Stocks) via Restrictions
Voice Memos for iPad! (why isn't it there already? )

1. Mission Control (Airplane mode, Wifi, Bluetooth, Torch on/off switch in notification centre)
2. Better multi-tasking bar (elaborated view, option to close all apps at once)
3. Option to reply and delete emails & text messages from notification centre
4. Ability to add unlimited apps in one folder by giving an option to scroll within a folder.
5. Improvements in iMessage (faster, more stable & reliable, also seperate the app from text messages and add option for a display picture & status updates to create a sense of a community along with option to make iMessage groups)
6. Multiple people can add images to a single photostream
7. Option to change default apps
8. Better & more reliable apple maps
9. Improvements to Siri
10. Themes

Number one would be great. Tap one button, boom wifi on, same for the others, it does become tiresome going to settings........etc.

I don't think there have been any releases that didn't work, at least, on the immediately prior iPhone. This doesn't mean that all the functions will be there but the phone itself will work on it. I think 6.1.3 works at least back to the iPhone 3g

Hardware has overtaken the software

When the iPhone first came out, while it was smooth, it still stuttered a little bit and had some small problems handling the software. Nowadays the hardware in the iPhone has overtaken the software requirements by so much.

Even 3GS' hardware runs the latest iOS just fine, it may not be as fast and the apps keep refreshing sometimes but it still runs it decently. And it's 4 generations old.

What could iOS introduce or do on a system scale, I'm not talking games, that could possibly stress iPhone 4S' or iPhone 5's hardware?

If Apple does not introduce any radical new features to iOS 7, the gap between the hardware power and the software requirements will widen even further with iPhone 5S.

Not like it's a bad thing at all, but it makes me wonder if iPhone 4S will slow down with iOS 8 or 9? Or will it keep up just as easily? And the updates Apple will provide.

Dutch siri pls apple, tnx.

I'd say a bilingual SIRI... I'm French Canadian, fluently bilingual, live in a bilingual area...

SIRI should be able to undersand French canadian artist or album names without me having to anglicize them... I sound retarted even to myself. I know speech recognition is harder than most people think it is, but it is 2013, at least work on it. There are a lot of bilingual people out there: English-Mandarin, English-French (in Canada only, the France French are unilingual :) ), etc.

And Maps should know that a street name is in French or in English (or whatever) and pronounce correctly. But that is probably true of most map apps... Even knowing on which street I am, I go WTF?

what about multilinguals like myself, English-Spanish-Arabic-French :p

It would totally useful if Siri became an instant translator. That would be a must-have for a lot of people.

Side-by-side apps for full size iPad. Watch a movie while messaging, that sort of thing.
Ability to share Apple app data with other Apple IDs in iCloud, such as Pages documents, Numbers spreadsheets.
Ability to delete 'Notify Me' saved locations in 'Find My Friends' app.
iCloud 3.0 - ability to iMessage and FaceTime from iCloud.com.

Or rather, something like google's actionable notifications where I can quickly respond to an email or message without actually having to exit my current app. :D

We really need Picture-in-Picture for video. I hate it when I'm watching a video/TV on my iPhone/iPad and can't just check an email or look something up online without leaving the app displaying the video.
