Are you suggesting that the current feel of the OS is not up to standard?

In Mac OS X, the "feeling" of Safari to me is much better than Chrome, Firefox and Opera. I'm not sure what exactly gives it that unique feeling, but to me it just feels "right". The responsiveness of buttons, the appearance of control elements. I just prefer Safari over other browsers in that respect. So I understand that feeling is important in an OS, but back to your comment, are you waiting for an OS that feels right/better?

I do love iOS, obviously, if not I wouldn't have an iPhone in the first place.

I do, however, find Apple's hardware far more beautiful, and that's Jonny's work. And if he does a great job at that, it's likely that he'll make aspects of the software look just as beautiful.

I don't know, it's probably just a personal thing, but I find myself contemplating and enjoying the look/feel of the actual iPhone quite a lot more than I do with the software.

So he mixed up S4 and HTC One, which is shipping with old 4.1.

That's kind of a big mistake... considering they aren't even made by the same company. It's more likely that he just threw a random Android phone on there and hoped he was right.

I want them to change everything in ios 7. Every default app and icon just make a change because its boring now.

I find that people who want change for its own sake, as well those who use words such as "boring" and "lame" to describe a phone, are typically making up for an otherwise lacklustre life.

I wonder what the chances are of it running on iPad 2. If not, there's a significant chance I will abandon it for a new iPad when it is released... and I'm sure Apple knows that, which is why the odds are probably not in the 2's favor.

Market share plunging from where? Where was/is the high market share that is now plunging? And based on whose data?

Here you go.

ANDROID’S MARKET SHARE LEAD OVER IOS EXPLODES TO EIGHT POINTS IN THE U.S.

Kantar is out with its smartphone market share numbers for three months ending in February and Android devices continue pulling away from iPhone in the United States. A year ago, iOS led Android by 47%-45% in the smartphone operating system market share competition. By February 2013, Android had moved to a 51%-43% lead.

iOS 7

You would think that Apple could afford a few more programmers, designers and engineers with 100 Billion in the bank.

C'mon Apple get your act together. At worst Steve Jobs was one aggressive SOB. I miss him.

AGAIN. Every Android manufacturer makes a range of handsets ranging from £40 to £400. Just because some chav with a Giro buys and Android phone at £40 from Tesco and adds to the tally, doesn't mean Android is "better".

The reason Android has marketshare is down to lots of various cheap handsets, not just premium ones.

If Apple waits until the holiday season of 2014 to release an exciting phone, then lots of people will be bored of Apple in general. Already Apple's market share is plunging, and by then, they will be the old uncool brand of cellphone for people who are WAY behind and WAY old fashioned.

But don't get me wrong. There are huge numbers of technophobes who do not yet own a smartphone. Apple will sell plenty to them. It will be a popular product. Hell, AARP is wildly popular.

My point was... lots of people already DO think the iPhone is exciting. It may not have every bulletpoint feature... but people like it. The apps, the games, iTunes music store... you can't deny Apple has an appeal to some people.

I wouldn't be too worried about iPhone/iOS market share ranking either. Yes... Android has a much higher number on the market share chart... 70% smartphone market share to the iPhone's 20%

But... you can buy Android phones for $150 in some countries... while the iPhone starts at nearly $500. Are we really surprised that dozens of Android phones outsell the iPhone... thus giving Android that colossal market share number?

There will soon be a billion Android devices in the world... that doesn't automatically make them "cool" though ;)

Nothing particularly wrong with that strategy in the case of android handsets, thats pretty good odds for him.

...

Apple did the same exact thing under Job's leadership when pulling resources from Leopard development to work on the iphone.

The iPhone 5 may be boring... but people sure bought it.

Out of the 47 million iPhones sold last quarter (Apple's highest iPhone quarter ever... btw...) it's estimated that the iPhone 5 represented 27 million of them.

That means the iPhone 5 sold 300,000 every day.

Not bad for a "boring" phone ;)

Can you imagine how many Apple will sell when they finally release an "exciting" iPhone?

Just because something sells is no indication it will continue to do so. Look at Blackberry, they sold by the boat load until suddenly they were considered uncool and boring. Tech changes fast, and Apple is one misfire away from being your grandparents phone.

Don't underestimate how many sheep will change brands the moment their friends do.

IOS 6 was a huge misfire, it brought nothing useful to the table. Thankfully the man responsible is gone, lets hope 7 brings something useful and not just gimmicks.

Do you see any handset makers doing anything that changes the current paradigm? Blackberry died because the smartphone paradigm itself changed. No one in the industry is currently doing anything than their own variant of a touch screen smartphone.

It's going to take a radical new form factor (flexible?) or new category of device to cause the same type of disruption to the industry. Tech changes fast, yes, but if you pay attention to what happens are R&D institutions you'll see no one is currently in a position to do anything radical with smartphones until something like willow glass is ready for the market.

From the hardware front, these changes aren't all that unpredictable.

So what's keeping holding you back? Got to love how people who no longer believe in Apple stick around the user sites proclaiming they are going elsewhere. I guess if we can hear you saying bye, you ain't gone.

I'll be closing the door when you leave, make sure you move quickly.

Cool! They've probably got lots of room for you on the alternatives to iPhone and iOS sub forum! :)

So you guys need other people to make the same choice of cell phone as you to validate your own decisions? Get a life. If someone wants an Apple device or not, I couldn't care less. They can like what they like.

And I still have and enjoy other Apple devices that I enjoy, like my iPad and MacBook. So, while you mouthbreathers drag your knuckles around on the ground and live in your mom's basement, I'll make my own choices and let others do the same, like adults.

Samsungs flexible screen demos are ces 2013 were very impressive and I'm sure all phone makers have some form of prototype in development. It's an interesting time for any tech lover.

Exactly, but that glass "willow glass" isn't ready for full scale manufacturing until late 2014/2015 according its manufacturers.

Shorter miamialley:

"Nobody should care what other people prefer in phones. On that note, here's what I prefer in phones. Now here's an insult. Now look at how adult I am!"

Here's what I see happening:
June WWDC: iOS 7 Previewed; iPad 5 Introduced; iPhone 5S Introduced

Your roadmap includes no new Mac releases. I suspect this means you've guessed correctly.

So not based on actual sales data but surveys? I think all of these market share numbers (whether good or bad for Apple) need to be taken with a grain of salt because hardly anyone besides Apple reports sales. Even AT&T and Verizon (and Sprint?) only specifically break out iPhone sales when they do their quarterly investor calls. I'd be curious to know what the market share is when looking at just higher end smart phones.

Apple never said when this year the Mac Pros were due so no they are likely not running behind.

But folks like to claim they are and push out this kind of software stuff as the reason. But it's two different teams and one doesn't generally affect the other.

Mac pros were due for an update back in 2011. That 2012 Mac Pro doesn't count as an update.

and not sure who is claiming that the software is lagging the mac pros...
