All I really want at this point is a better music App.

I'd like to add the song playing into a new playlist on the fly.

I HATE the star system.

And maybe a system like TuneUp universe where they give the youtube link for what you're listening to and the option to post to Twitter of Facebook.

Maybe bigger buttons for iPod controls on the lock screen.

Maybe the ability to set your ringtone to whatever you want in your song list...

Maybe not treat us like infants and make up pay for a rendered track THAT WE OWN for $1

Maybe look at what the Jailbreak community has had for 5 years now and stop being such chumps when it comes to updates.

Maybe at least give us the same stuff you get on Android ???

You're assuming that the only reason anyone ever Jailbreaks their phone is to download free stuff?

Not for the better version of the app-switcher 'Auxo'?
Or the 'iCaughtU' security feature that takes a snapshot of the person that's trying to get into your phone?
Or LockMessages
Or multitouch Zephyr
Or Activator
Or widgets
Or a Safari Omnibar
Or being able to swipe Safari pages away
Or 'Pull to refresh' in Safari
Or hiding Newsstand
Or iSwipe keyboard
Or that silly utility that makes your phone do the Harlem Shake?

Are you getting my point?

These days, with all the vast improvements that have been made in iOS, jailbreakers have very few excuses anymore.

Golly Gee Whiz... Running behind?

Could that be due to the Vengence & clear words of the dearly departed Steve Jobs giving the order to pull out all the stops & "Go Thermonuclear?"

Could that be the all consuming task left to Apple and its massive legal team?

Now they find themselves in arrears of the highly focused competition. Oh my....

The only bad thing that could come of this is that we'll have to wait longer for release.

This is what will change the experience. Like the Blackberry CEO said iOS is pretty old and needs a major update.

I'm more excited with this change to the iOS than major hardware change. My iPhone 5 is still the best hardware ever made followed by iPhone 4/4S.

Go Apple! Time to create some excitement!!

But you can get easily update your photo while many Androids are unable to do so.

That may be the case but to release a brand new iphone with a year old OS wouldn't go over well with investors and the like. Plus it wouldn't really give much incentive to consumers to go buy the new iphone if that was the case.

what?

"iOS 7 Running Behind" -> so are the Mac Pros

Apple never said when this year the Mac Pros were due so no they are likely not running behind.

But folks like to claim they are and push out this kind of software stuff as the reason. But it's two different teams and one doesn't generally affect the other.

----------

Any developer could have told you iOS 7 and OS X 10.9 are both late... Apple normally gives us a hint of what's coming in February or March. This year we got nothing.

Last year it was WWDC as any developer could tell us. And guess that logically WWDC is when the hints will come this year.

So no, they likely aren't late because they were not due before now

----------

Is that really so surprising? The computer thing is quickly becoming a minor sideline for Apple. Apple never really gained much traction in the computer biz anyways.

Nowadays the iPhone is their premier product, with the iPad close behind.

That's because the vast majority of folks either don't need a full computer at all or don't need it all the time.

Why buy a humvee when you are just driving to work, home and occasionally to the movies or grocery store. A Smart Car might look dorky but it gets you there just the same

Very, very disappointed at Apple.

I am just thinking of buying a new MacBook Pro with a retina display, for a high price tag. Or was thinking.

And you still can. OS X development will continue, and when it's ready, you can run it on the Mac you purchased. The hardware is still the hardware, you can still buy it, and it will still work just fine.

Once again, Apple is showing that iOS devices, these iToys, are more important than the real computers.

You're reading too much into what is basically a rumor. Apple hasn't confirmed that any of this has actually happened.

Besides, until the day comes that you can design iOS apps on iOS devices, OS X devices will be absolutely essential. No OS X means no app development, and this will probably be the case for quite some time.

Nearly US$ 140 billion dollars in cash. Why Apple can't just hire new engineers to work on iOS 7? Why does it have to pull engineers from OS X 10.9?

This statement pretty much shows your lack of familiarty with software devlopment. Hiring fresh new developers would mean training them, getting them up to speed on the code, and making sure they're good fits with the project. That could take months, and on a project that's behind schedule, hiring completely green devs and doing all that's needed to make them productive will only get you further behind.

OR, you can pull developers who are familiar witht eh code and culture, and have familiarity with what you're doing. They can take of what needs to be done, and then go back to what they were doing when the project is back on track. This is pretty typical for software development with tight time frames. And it's not the big deal you and others are making it out to be... ASSUMING it's even true.

People may complain about Microsoft and Windows 8, but at least Microsoft is putting a lot of effort in developing the new Windows Blue. But Apple couldn't care less about the Mac and OS X.

Yeah, okay. Good luck with Windows.

i really don't care to be honest, i just felt like responding.

...which pretty much means you cared. I wish you luck with the Galaxy S4.

What I've heard: iOS 7 is running behind, and engineers have been pulled from OS X 10.9 to work on it.
Well, if 2 extra people will help... I say go for it.

Could that be due to the Vengence & clear words of the dearly departed Steve Jobs giving the order to pull out all the stops & "Go Thermonuclear?"

Could that be the all consuming task left to Apple and its massive legal team?

Probably not, considering that the software developers are not lawyers, and are not trying the patent cases.

Anyway, Steve's dead. Give it a rest.

That is awesome.

"I'd like my device to be inherently insecure and vulnerable to attacks from the outside world, just so I can download and run free **** I don't want to pay for!".

That totally just made my day.

-SC

1) You worry way too much.
2) You still pay for the best tweaks.
3) Like someone said, the -SC isn't needed in the least bit. We know what your username is, it's like 3 inches away from your post.

These days, with all the vast improvements that have been made in iOS, jailbreakers have very few excuses anymore.

Speak for yourself. The jailbreak tweaks are what keep me on iOS.

I'm kind of hoping this a leak from Apple. Have they leaked stuff to Gruber in the past?

ew

Windows 98 all over again! Why are people obsessed with no design all of a sudden?

The phone number pad on iphone looks like ****.

I wonder how long it will be until Android steals a lot of design aspects from iOS7

Great to have Ive in the lead for software design as well. Pure genius.

As far as osx vs iOS goes. iOS needs all the help they can get. OS X is just fine right now :)

Here's what I see happening:
June WWDC: iOS 7 Previewed; iPad 5 Introduced; iPhone 5S Introduced
June: iPad 5 Ships/Launches
July: iPhone 5S Launches with iOS 7
September Keynote: iPad Mini 2 Introduced; "Cheap" iPhone Introduced; iOS 7.1 Previewed
September: iPad Mini 2 and Cheap iPhone Launch with iOS 7.1
November Keynote: iWatch Introduced
November: iWatch Ships
And new Mac Pros somewhere in there.

As an industrial designer, I think skeumorphism must stay but moderate it.

I remember the notes app was one of the things that attracted me about iOS, specially on the iPad; but calendar, game center and find my friends (for example) really suck... Just please, no Google or Windows Phone UI...

Throwing money at a problem doesn't make it go away all the time.

You COULD hire a **** ton of new developers, but have you ver heard the saying ' Too many cooks in the kitchen '?

Having a huge team means that it takes more effort to keep everyone on the same page, theres more room for miscommunication, more points of failure. There becomes a point where the effort put into something becomes counter productive. Apple knows well enough the balance between the two extremes and simply needs time to come through.

Reworking the OS is no small feat, especially when you realize when it comes out how many people are going to download it, along with whatever iPhone hardware they couple with it, they have to makesure its as close to perfect as possible to get out of this rut of their suffering software problems.

I think a bit part of this is caving to Customers and pushing software out too early, and getting **** reviews because they didn't take their time and release the best product they could make.

Remember iOS 6 was ONLY released 6 months ago. Hardly been half a year. Same for the iPhone 5. We have a while to go.

I really hope a UI overhaul isn't the "big" feature of iOS7. A UI refresh would be nice, but I'd rather have it come with more features, such as more VPN options or the ability to integrate apps into the core OS (eg have Gtalk or MSN integrate into the Messages app).
