No, that's why people thought the iPhone 5 was boring.
Everything got leaked beforehand. The announcement had zero surprises.
The iPhone 5 is boring, nothing could have saved it, no matter when they showed off the software.

I call BS - the developers for IOS and OSX are two totally separate teams and operate totally autonomously of each other - they don't just 'get pulled across'.
There is so many specialisation to each OS they can't just move people around, the amount of internal financial issues this would cause would be unreal!
Just to add, if they need more developers they believe it or not recruit them and each department has it's own budget and revenue streams to deal with that.

All I really want at this point is a better music App.
I'd like to add the song playing into a new playlist on the fly.
I HATE the star system.
And maybe a system like TuneUp universe where they give the youtube link for what you're listening to and the option to post to Twitter of Facebook.
Maybe bigger buttons for iPod controls on the lock screen.
Maybe the ability to set your ringtone to whatever you want in your song list...
Maybe not treat us like infants and make up pay for a rendered track THAT WE OWN for $1
Maybe look at what the Jailbreak community has had for 5 years now and stop being such chumps when it comes to updates.
Maybe at least give us the same stuff you get on Android ???

In a Branch chat, which at the time of this writing is still going on, Daring Fireball's John Gruber says, according to what he's heard, iOS 7 is running behind schedule and that it will bring a significant user interface (UI) refresh.
Gruber went on to say that he's heard that iOS 7 is a "significant system-wide UI overhaul" and the iOS engineers who are allowed to carry around devices with iOS 7 on them even have special privacy filters on their devices which reduces viewing angles. This is to prevent others from accidentally getting a glimpse of the new iOS design.
Back in 2007, Apple delayed the release of OS X Leopard to concentrate work on iPhone. Gruber hints that this could be the case with Mac OS X 10.9 and iOS 7.
iMore's Rene Ritchie follows up Gruber's comments, saying that he's heard that Ive's work with iOS 7 is "making many people really happy, but will also apparently make rich-texture-loving designers sad."
His comments come during a Branch talk that includes Gruber, Ritchie, TechCrunch's MG Siegler, Engadget's Tim Stevens, The Next Web's Matthew Panzarino and more.
Ritchie follows up his earlier predictions, noting that he's heard that an event for a new, 9.7-inch iPad is or was planned for April, but it was contingent upon the new iPad being ready for release. He also notes that he's hearing the iPhone 5S will arrive in August, although Ritchie also says it could be a July/August window rather than a specific month.
As for what could be on the iPhone 5S, both Siegler and Panzarino say they've heard a lot about biometrics on the new device. The feature would apparently be used for payments and identification. Panzarino notes it wouldn't be surprising to see AuthenTec's biometric technology in Apple devices so soon after Apple purchased the company last July because of the urgency of the deal.
Finally, Siegler says he's heard "a whisper" that Apple's Passbook team is due for a shakeup and is in "shambles," though Ritchie points out that Forstall's departure could be the reason for the Passbook team's troubles.

Once again, Apple is showing that iOS devices, these iToys, are more important than the real computers.
The iPhone 5S was running behind so they had to pull people off the Mac Pro.
It has been done before. Apple delayed the launch of Leopard due to the fact that they needed to pull some of the OS X engineers to work on the iOS 1.0 release.
I'm pretty sure that the music apps will be updated to match the iTunes 11 UI.
That is awesome.
"I'd like my device to be inherently insecure and vulnerable to attacks from the outside world, just so I can download and run free **** I don't want to pay for!".
That totally just made my day.

Is Clayton Morris on crack: "April Event: iWatch, Flat Panel TV, new iOS cards app. In that order."
I don't care all that much about iOS, but I really really hope this means they release a proper version of OS X. The Lion's have been a major letdown, worse than Windows IMO.

Doesn't apply here, else Apple would not have reassigned people from other projects (such as 10.9).Doesn't always help. Nine women can't make a baby in one month.
BILLIONS of dollars and they can't hire more people?
Doubtful imho. They are still supporting the ancient 3GS with software - leaving out 3 generations (3GS, 4, 4S) at once in one big leap would be stupid, especially considering they are still selling at least two of them actively. But wll the 4 4S get the full iOS 7 treatment? Or will they drop the support for the older screensize?

What exactly does this mean? Rich texture? Is that like the Passbook shredding feature? or the Calendar app on the iPad?
That's how you burn through human resources and tarnish your company reputation for not being able to work on more than one project at the same time. That's how you run a healthy company.
Yeah - people like to suddenly get pulled out of their current work and plunge into something completely different. Increases their productivity for sure.It keeps employees sharp and focused.
The only bad thing that could come of this is that we'll have to wait longer for release.
