I have been running ios7 the beta version for a few months now. When will I get the final update or will I ever get one?

Why? I'm curious as the sound of the feature seems really cool and something I'd want on. Haven't tried it yet.

If I follow, this allows APPS to update their data in the background, correct? I have Jimmy John's and Waze showing so I'd assume that is for location and/or data updates, not APP updates. (App updates are under store settings)

I have an iPhone 4.

Things I like:

Fresh, fast interface.
Smaller fonts to use.
Better controls for music.
MUCH better controls for lock screen.
I can hide Newsstand!
More than 12 icons in a folder!
Automatic download updates for apps.
Great battery life.

Things I don't like:

Icons are too large and bulky.
The thin font is a bit 'cheap' looking.

Icon design in iOS 7 ugly?

I dont think so, i am even seeing this icon as an Andy warholl style. I believe this icon style would revolutionize all apps icon on appstore, like how he did on other mac n iDevice design. its just about time my friend.

You don't really get to appreciate how bad it is until you use it however... and I haven't really been following the forums that closely. All I knew was that the icons were horrible, I didn't realise quite how harsh all that white would be, until now.

The only wallpaper I've found that makes app icons readable is pure black. This also makes the pull-up/pull-down screens look quite nice. It really makes me wonder why they didn't give us the option of a dark theme for the whole OS.

I totally hear what you're saying, I was concerned before I installed it last week on my iPhone, and I too found that the wallpaper thing was a freak out to find anything that looked good because of the transparency, I even had the same thought about the black being the only decent choice! :)

But I got it dialed in, and after living with it for the last week or so, I have to eat a big plate of my words, I really like it a lot and I think it's a great update.

So my humble advice for anyone who has downloaded it today, is to try and reserve judgement for a day or two and see how you like it then, you might have a change of heart like I did.

Big difference between Simple and Amateur. These are Amateur..

Sincerely, you might want to go to an opthamologist. In the meantime check out some of the usability options designed for impaired users. Some of them could be of great Assistsnce to you.

So far 30 minutes into this thing....

I like the UI changes. Nothing about the swiping is too terribly off. I was caught by things like deleting mails and shuting down apps being changed... The right-to-left change wasn't bad, but closing apps has zero visual cues for ya.

My main complaints:
The new "folders" for App icons is totally useless. I liked that it opened up to just one more level.... If I have to swipe around in the new 3x3 box it's just missing the point.

The biggest miss "almost deal breaker" is the color scheme. It's just too loud. I had a ton of very nice desktop pics (I took myself that I also use on my MacBook and iPhone and even at work) and they are worse than useless with the new color scheme in place. The color scheme and arrangement of all the "blendy" stuff totally washes out pictures that used to look really great. I suppose I'll eventually re-edit them or take new ones, that has still go me bothered and upset.

Folder management is harder when you have too many in a folder now. I wish you can tag your apps. Maybe iOS 8.

Me too. And my iPhone got really hot so I turned off updates and a few other things and now it is back to normal.

Isn't that what Spotlight is for?

I'll spare the ugly and busy comments. It is. This is not fresh and new, it's average at best and a mess in many ways. Icons make no sense- look at photos and Game Center. They mean nothing other than some stupid blob of color...

And the folders are a mess. You used to get, what 12 icons. Not they are huge, have lots of white space and you only get 9.

Ive should stick to hardware. From a usability standpoint it's about as much of a mess as Windows 8 and Windows Phone.

Actually no, folders allow you to put an unlimited number of items in them. Infinity is better than 12.

Did you try turning them off individually except for your most used apps?

iOS 7 on iPhone 4

My initial impressions of iOS 7 are extremely positive. The redesign works for me and I think it's quite beautiful (obviously, there are other opinions...). I'm liking all these little tweaks and my iPhone 4 almost seems faster.

(I had forgotten about FaceTime audio - basically, built-in free calls to iPhone users. That's a great addition.)

One thing I've noticed though: I cannot get a lock screen wallpaper to stick. Home screen ones work fine, but I get what almost looks like an enlarged, blurry version of the one I chose. Anyone else seeing this? Is it just an iPhone 4 thing?

Hahaha cheers for that.... I inverted the colors and my eyes are eternally thankful :)

I LOVE the fact there is now a progress slider in the lock screen for music! Been wanting that since iOS 5!

That's good but I'm finding the controls (play/pause, rew & ff) are not working in Control Centre.

Any ideas?

EDIT... Found rebooting phone solved problem.

I have an iPhone 4 and my lock screen wallpaper is the same as it was before the update.

I'm surprised people don't like the new look. From the photos, I wasn't sure I'd like it. It's actually really nice. iOS 7 also has lots of new features. I just wish transitions were slightly faster. Overall, it's awesome.

I think iOS 7 is beautiful. All the negative comments before it was released were clearly bullcrap and anyone still complaining iOS 7 is lying or has no taste.

I am absolutely amazed that iRadio does not have Airplay capability. Between the relatively poor selection and no Airplay, iRadio is basically useless to me -- back to MOG. If you want something for free, Pandora definitely has a much better station algorithm, plus it supports Airplay, duh.... Apple is embarrassing itself.

Airplay for iRadio is located in the control center. I'm listening to the iTunes Festival 2013 Shows through my AppleTV using airplay.

If Apple can implement the automatic night time mode based on ambient lighting and local time for Maps...

Why can't it allow this for everything else? Who really wants to stare into a bright white screen at night?

What are our eyes going to be like after 40 years of this...

folder zooming headach

I can only take so much zooming in and out with the folder icons.. its driving me nutty

Any idea how to turn that off?

Simply put I appreciate the idea of endless items inside folders but I loved the old way of doing it by splitting open the background (that was cool and not jarring). And the contrast of the old icons vs. folder background of the old iOS was WAY better. I'm just not getting the point of this UI, seems chaotic.

For example why am I zooming into the folder, then only to have a very large centered header, a square holding only 9 icons in the middle, and then another very large footer with no icons, not even the Dock showing? Don't get it.. seems like they should fill the space with as many folder items as possible.
