Everyone saying this wouldn't of happened under Steve obviously have forgotten about iOS 2.0. That was a cluster you-know-what. Servers overloaded, phones bricked.

Oh and saying Tim's not the right guy for the job...then why did Steve pick him? Why didn't he pick someone else? Or did Steve just suck at succession planning?

You're making me laugh. Alex Ferguson handpicked David Moyes to be his successor and we all know what happened next.

(British supporters would get this)

I updated my iPhone 6 today via iTunes as I work from home. I haven't noticed any issues. (Whistling by the graveyard).

Seriously I love Apple but I buy their products to avoid *****torms like today and I've been noticing them more frequently (software related) since Steve passed away.

Someone needs to be ********** over this fiasco.

Meanwhile most Australians are oblivious because we were all asleep while the rest of you were updating with a dodgy firmware

So minus all this crazy crap if you update on iTunes and everything works does it fix 3rd party keyboards? Cause I love swift key but I had to disable it cause the keyboard keeps not popping out and it drives me crazy

I've finally got my iPhone 6 up and running again!
A MASSIVE thank you to everyone for holding my hand through the 'updating' to iOS 8 from 8.0.1.

Yeah, with the way Apple did it this time by pulling the update it seems like that's one of the side-effects. Sounds like you'll just need to wait it out until the update is actually released again and then get it to get rid of that.

----------

Don't think the Settings app appears there.

I thought it did that as long as the phone knows that there is an update available, even if you delete the download package.

Remember, "it just works." (you have to picture Mr. Ive smelling a flower, staring off into the distance, while you say it)

IOS 8 not good.

IOS 8

Iphone 5

I have the Iphone plugged into the computer with usb cable.

then I tried to powered the device off. but it just restarts.

Whats going on appple ?

any of you having the same issue ?

Thanks.

ID

I haven't downloaded it so it didn't affect me, and I'm glad people are able to roll back to 8.0.0 on their computers (despite the annoyance that may cause) but what about those that don't use their iPhone in conjunction with a computer with iTunes? I think that represents a decent chunk of the overall usage base. Are they SOL?

I did that way also, the update downloaded to my phone but I plugged in before running the update, the minute I plugged my phone in a carrier update box popped up. I'm on AT&T, don't know if it was related or not, but my phone works fine.

Try doing a restore Using the method I've provided a few pages back, try a default restore then you might done do a device firmware update for DFU mode if that does not work the DFU mode is the last chance.

YES! I was able to downgrade to 8.0 without a full restore! :)

I was able to also. But lost all my ringtones in the process. not a huge deal, but another annoyance on top of the annoyances from the upgrade in the first place.

I have no idea about this 8.0.1 update. Looks like all these problems happened when I was asleep.

What a crappy experience.

I updated my iPhone 6 this morning before I left for work. It was restarting as I headed out the door. So had no working phone all day. Get home and took me a while online to find a copy of the iOS 8.0 to reinstall on my phone.

Now finally 11.5 hours later my phone works again.

What do you care?

no need to get all bent outta shape man. ;)

Because I'm interested in reading about the iOS update but don't really care about bending of iPhones and don't care reading about that when I see that this thread has updates only to find out they are about nothing related to the actual topic of the thread. If I cared about bending issues I could easily follow and participate in many of the other threads that actual deal with that particular topic. Fairly basic stuff.

Doh!!!

You are absolutely right. This thread is about iOS 8.0.1. My bad.

You didn't read my post and took it out of context. I was addressing "bending" not the update.

Yeah - the whole concept of netiquette is being lost it seems. The rule of thumb on an internet forum is that you stay on topic, and don't hijack threads. This isn't just for current readers of the thread, but also for catalogging reasons. If I do a web search for "iOS 8.0.1 problems" this thread most likely comes up, and if I click on it, I don't want to read a bunch of non-related stuff about phones bending. It degrades the quality of the site as a whole for the millions and millions who don't actually come here every day, and I am surprised the moderators haven't given you all a wrist slapping.

And now I am contributing to it... respect the rules of engagement.
