So... I was away from wi-if while all this was going on. I now now see the upgrade has downloaded. Does that mean it was reposted, and that it's now safe to download?

Tim Cook was saying 2014 would be a big year for apple, and now for all the wrong reasons. Apple is losing it edge very quickly.

My shiny new iPhone 6 was essentially turned into a very expensive iTouch today. I spent over an hour fixing Apple's f'n phone via the restore route.

I sincerely home the idiot responsible was escorted out of the building by security after he packed up all his personal items in a file box. Apple FAILED today. Miserably.

iOS 8.0.1 Causing No Service, Touch ID Issues on iPhone 6/6 Plus, Apple Suppo...

I just did a software update check and my 4s says is fully upgraded at 8.0. Was the update pulled again?

It's all in the article (which includes updates).

You probably have the original update downloaded. I'd delete it or leave it alone until the new one is released.

I didn't get back into wi-if range until 3:50 ish. Then I left again. I didn't see the update available until about an hour ago when my settings app raised a red notification badge.

A fix isn't out yet. Crazy!

This is not a good look for Apple. Almost eight hours without a software fix. No, I don't want to jump through the hoops of downgrading etc...

First world problems, but they should be more vigilant in solving this issues.

They've got billion$ in cash reserves, yet they can't even hire more software engineers to fix this stupid travesty of an update ASAP?

If Apple goes with 8.0.2 for the fix, 8.0.1 will be the rarest firmware ever. Has there been another case where a firmware was offered for such a short period of time and then pulled?

Does restoring it on iTunes fix it. If you have 8.01
Yes it does,

For Restore:
Press in iTunes (Mac: Option/Alt) (Windows: Shift) when pressing restore and locate where you saved the IPSW file and select that for the update. Model list for the iPhones are below with my hosting link (copy.com) and Apple's official servers to know which one you need.

For DFU and restore (Total wipe):

1. Based on the model number of your iPhone, you will be able to identify which iOS firmware file you need to download. You can find model number on the iPhone’s back cover.

iPhone 4s Model Number(s): A1387 ; A1431
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone4,1_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 5 Model Number: A1428
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone5,1_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 5 Model Number(s): A1429 ; A1442
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone5,2_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 5c Model Number(s): A1456 ; A1532
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone5,3_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 5c Model Number(s): A1507 ; A1516 ; A1526 ; A1529
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone5,4_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 5s Model Number(s): A1433 ; A1533
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone6,1_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 5s Model Number(s): A1457 ; A1518 ; A1528 ; A1530
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone6,2_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 6 Plus Model Number(s): A1522 ; A1524
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone7,1_8.0_12A366_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 6 Model Number(s): A1549 ; A1586
iOS firmware file needed: iPhone7,2_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw

ALTERNATE LINK: https://copy.com/1GOtP6Vz0DRL (I'm hosting the above listed files as it appears apple servers are slow.)

2. Plug your device into your computer

3. Turn off the device by holding the Sleep/Wake or Power button and swiping it off

4. Hold the power button for 3 seconds

5. Begin holding the Home button without releasing the Sleep/Power button for 10 seconds

6. Release the power button and continue holding the home button until you get a popup from iTunes that your device is recognized as being in recovery mode.

7. Now hold down the (Mac Option/Alt) (Windows: Shift) Key and click on the Restore button. In the navigation sheet that appears locate the ipsw file you just downloaded and click Choose. Again, this will wipe out all the data on it so be sure to have a backup.

8. Be patient and wait for the installation process to be completed by iTunes

9. Once the restore is completed you can select your backup or treat the device as a new device.

Here’s another important note (which Windows users should pay particular attention to; also, this is something that only applies if the user chooses to look for the desired IPSW file on the Internet). Your browser may change the IPSW file into a .zip file. For example, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer does this, if used to download the firmware bundle. This doesn’t mean it’s unusable. Instead of wasting time switching web browsers, just rename the file to end in “.ipsw” and iTunes will accept it.

For Restore and if the Device times out:
If your device times out during the restore sync after the software is reloaded back on, uplug the device via USB and replug it back in. It should then continue to sync again.

Use commend + shift when clicking on the Restore button on Yosemite with iTunes 12. Option clicking doesn't work.

I thank you for that tidbit, since I am not on the next OS.

I am providing this for those that do not have the ISPW file. All the site's I've seen are using this method.

I feel bad for those affected by the update but it was morbidly and comically fascinating to watch the previous thread morph from "Apple is great for doing this so quickly", "Only Apple would do this for their customers", and "This is why I love Apple" to "OMFG" in a matter of minutes.

I should have been working but I just couldn't look away. It was like a watching a train wreck in real time/slow motion. I had the additional theater of one of my co-workers tearing Sprint customer service a new one for, and this is a direct quote: "Trying to end my life" and "This phone is how I eat. If I can't make calls, I literally can't eat. You people are trying to murder me." He is wired beyond all reason.

Hopefully this will be resolved fairly quickly for everyone's sake.

So a good day at the office. :D
I was swamped today, so I missed all the excitement on the boards.

Wow, aboslutely unbelievable that there is still no fix and no official response from Apple. Been without a phone since the release today.

Probably will wait a few more hours and go the restore route.

Just go the rollback route, (not including backup and download time) it takes like 5 minutes.
