Getting the results on 8.1.2 without Apple pay.

How the heck do you install the update without ApplePay? I'm super annoyed. I've dropped 5% since my last post on 8.1.2. Would like to stay on this version if possible instead of going back but I don't know what you mean about "without ApplePay"?? If it's a Dev thing, let me know

I have been averaging 7-8 hrs of usage depending on signal, what I'm doing, etc. -iPhone 6. That's the same since I got the phone with 8.0 and all the updates since then.

This is the best battery life I've gotten since iOS 7 on my 5s.

You cant. Just don't activate it but I seriously doubt that will cause battery drain. thegrants is the only post I have seen anywhere that says ApplePay is causing battery drain. Just roll back to 8.1.1. I suspect tomorrow Apple will stop signing it (at least soon if not tomorrow) so if that works for you roll it back and skip 8.1.2.

Thanks, This is definitely doable according to Apples spec. So clearly 8.1.2 is not broken for everyone. Thanks for re-posting without plugging in.

That's a 5 or 5s

The Apple specs for 5c, 5s and 6 are just about the same. So yeah it could be 5s or 6 depending on type of usage.

That's what I was trying to confirm. Thank you.

I'm back on 8.1.1 and although the battery life is better, it comes at a price.
8.1.2 feels much less like beta software on the 6+. Links are clickable in landscape, there are less crashes in landscape and less stutters/freezes all 'round. It's such a shame that I lose 1-2 hours of battery life per charge cycle with the latest update.:(

If you stay on 8.1.1 or go up to 8.1.2, either way I believe the battery issue will be addressed in the next update due to the numerous reported problems and complaints shown here on all devices. If you decide to update, it may be worth it to just deal with it until 8.1.x or whatever.

When u downgrade to 8.1.1, are u able to restore from backup data from previous 8.1.2?

Glad i found this thread because my battery life has become an absolute joke ever since i updated to 8.1 originally.

When i first got my iPhone 6 and was on 8.0.2 or whatever it was, the battery was outstanding. Lasted me all day and i still had around 20-25% left at the end of the day.

I updated to 8.1 and BAM my battery drain is horrendous. I'd leave it in my locker at work during the day and only use it on a few breaks. I'd see it just drain so quickly. Thought i'd be patient and wait till 8.1.1, then upgraded and got even worse battery drain. It's disgusting, i've went to an Apple store and had an appointment with some guy, only for him to tell me that my battery is fine and that I should stop using certain apps ( the same apps I was using when i first got my iPhone 6 and had amazing battery life )

So tempted to demand a replacement because it has ruined my experience with this phone completely. I was loving it when I first got the phone and now I have to charge the phone halfway through the day. Got this phone on a 2 year plan and the battery doesn't even last half of what it used to.

Tried 8.1.2 and it's the same drain problems. I literally get 3 hours usage when I originally was hitting 6-7 on an average, light usage daily routine.

Really tempted to just give up with apple, sell my iPhone and just pay off the rest of my contract. I'm having to wait anxiously for every single update in hope that my battery goes back to how it should be!

Sorry for the long post!

What does it show that is using the battery the most? If in a locker is there a signal strength issue causing it perhaps? Take a look at that and address it from that angle. Also try settings>reset>reset network settings. (have to re add wifi networks afterwards) If still no difference try settings>reset>reset all settings . Of course you will have to run back through your settings and set up like you want as well as any wifi networks will have to be added back. 8.1 and 8.1.1 seem to be fine for most but 8.1.2 seems to be causing a stir for a lot of people regarding battery life.

Appreciate the response however the battery life still drains even when I'm out and about on days off from work. I've tried resetting a load of settings, turning off all these 'key battery saving' apps and functions of the phone. I browse my social media every now and then however I'm now finding the phone battery % can jump by 2 digits instead of the 1% drop I used to get.

Like seriously, how is this even possible?

Facebook is your main usage whereas mine is Twitter. Surely Facebook drains more than Twitter?

If that signal (in the screen capture) is more or less typical of what you often see that alone can impact the battery life quite a bit.

As for the 2% jump, that is something that is basically a glitch in iOS 8 it seems, at least as far as it comes to some percentage numbers--like 61% to 59% and a few other similar ones.

Ah no, that 1 bar literally only happens in a certain part of a room haha, but yeah if it was always like that then i'd have less to moan about! :(

Not really sure what I can do, might try using Twitter less however it's the app i do most of my networking through

I get 11 hours usage time from my 6+ and that's with 1-2 bars of signal the whole time. I'm sure a weak signal drains the battery more than a strong one but in no way does it account for several hours in my experience.

Based on that screenshot you are on target for 11 hr stdby and 5 hr use. However the signal strength is what I was asking about earlier, is that 1 dot typical of what you get? Also when its in a locker it could be worse. That will definitely cause battery drain issues no question. Even the wifi is low signal. I am surprised you are getting 5 hr use if that's the case.

[Edit] Saw your reply to CDM. Even so, if 1 dot in "that" part of the room it cant be much better in another part of the room (unless maybe by a window or whatever). I would still bet on the low cell and wifi signal as being a major contributor to your less than stellar battery life. Both radios are struggling to get a signal at the same time so it appears.

Wifi is usually full bars. Interesting thought about the locker draining the battery, may see what happens now that I'm off work for 2 days and won't be storing my iPhone in any cabinet type area.

Frustrating thing is I had no problems when I first got my phone, battery was perfect :(

Depending on what the phone is doing and how bad the signal is it can. If the phone is trying to keep that signal or searching for a better one it can make a good amount of difference.

I constantly have 1-2 bars of cellular signal, and 1-2 bars of WiFi signal. I'm not disputing that weak signals reduce battery life, but in my own experience they don't absolutely decimate it. For my money there's something else causing that battery drain issue.

Update us. Also maybe 8.1.1 is an option as well. At least for a few more days until Apple stops signing it. May want to roll it back while you can. U can always go to 8.1.2 later if you take the notion OR see no difference.
