How is it to use as a whole? OK to install on primary device?

So far its fine.

By the way, Camera Roll is not "back" as far as I can see. Just an album called All Photos. Which is (dis)organized just the way some of you people like it.

Do you have iCloud Photo Library turned on? If so, that's why.

For those that don't, the actual Camera Roll (name and all) seems to be back. Plenty of screenshots of it.

Yep.

And this is how it should have been in iOS 8's release. As I've said a thousand times in the last 2 weeks, Apple screwed up by changing the Photos app for anyone without iCloud Photo Library, as it was confusing and backwards and missing the key feature that rendered the Photos app worse than iOS 7, as opposed to much better, like it is on my device and any device with iCloud Photo Library.

THANK YOU APPLE! Finally not having issues with Match on my iPhone :D Could not delete music with any version of 8.0.

Ran across a problem. I just updated to the beta and turned in iCloud Photo Library and it started out fine and then crashed the settings app. Went to go back into iCloud -> photos and then it is an auto crash as soon as I click on photos within icloud settings.

Anyone else have this happen and have a fix?

try from settings --> photos & camera

if same then reset settings

OMG 8.1 is awesome. Camera Roll and Photo Stream are back, and then combined with the new Yosemite GM Candidate, SMS Relay works perfectly on my 2011 iMac. So far both of these new releases work just fine. 8.1 is even more stable than 8.02 on both my iPhone 5S and 6

One stupid question: Approximately how long might this be in the beta cycle? I will be getting my iPhone 6 soon, and have been very very excited for SMS relay. With SMS Relay working with this new update, doesn't that mean this update has to release in October, because of the "Coming in October" under SMS Relay on Apples website? That means it will be in beta for just one full month at most. That seems like a remarkably quick beta stage if you ask me, even if it is for a X.1 update.

7.1 was in beta for several months. It was a pretty big update though, lots of stuff was tweaked and fixed. I don't know...

I don't think anyone knows for sure, but my guess is that it's released at the 10/21 iPad event.

Wow that still is a really short beta cycle even if it is just a .1 update.

Yeah, it is, but I think it makes sense. It brings back sms relay and there is Apple pay code in it. Two features promised for an October release. It's just speculation on my part though... It's quite possible that I'm wrong

I hope the same. You can buy dev certificate on the black market but... I don't think that's a good idea.

This nonsense still isnt fix!!

Can anyone confirm that custom keyboards can be used while quick replying to a text message from the lock screen? As of now, only the stock keyboard can be used when doing so. Thanks for your help.

Negative, good buddy. Looks like we're still stuck without custom keyboards quick replying on the lock screen.

No neither do I!!!!!

I just can't get my head around why Apple made the decision it did. It makes no sense.

I guess they don't want apps that have over-lapping features. But iPhoto is much more advanced and much more capable than stock photos app.
