When the 8.1 comes out on Monday do I need to update from beta 2 through iTunes? Can I restore from a backup or do you suggest I start as new? Or will it force me to restore as new because I was on a beta?

Can you change the kilometres to miles when set in the UK for the health app.
Very annoying and dumb

If I remember and get chance, I'll put 8.1 my iPhone tonight and check.

I'm glad you posted.. I felt like something was wrong every time I looked at that info in Health App, and I just couldn't pin point what it was.
Now you've pointed out that it's not showing miles, it's glaringly obvious.

Will the 8.1 release on Monday be the same as beta 2 and will it be ota from beta 2
It probably won't be the same. And, no, you generally can't OTA from beta to pubic (or vice versa).

You can download the ispw file then Shift/Update or option/update in iTunes, browse to the file you downloaded and update it. If you update there is no need to restore backup but it should work since 8.1 beta is still 8.1. Some will recommend you start from scratch but I would update and if any issues you can always restore from scratch as a last resort. After trying the settings>general>reset>reset all settings of course. I have done the upgrade multiple times and never an issue for whats its worth.

This is very disappointing to me as 7.1.2 was a great web surfing build.

And I recall Jobs saying the iPad was the best way to surf the web. They've managed to **** it all up with iOS 8 and Safari. Really want the iPad air 2, but will keep my iPad 4 with 7.1.2 until things get better with iOS 8

You'll likely be able to just use the regular update button in iTunes and will do it all for you, just like any other update.

Has 8.1 at least reduced some of the stutter introduced on the iPad Air running 8.0.2? Did not have this on 7.x.x.

well good point. But if it sees 8.1 as your version it may think its already up to date unless its looking at build numbers. Interesting though. I will certainly be trying that first come Monday.

Wow that sucks :( I remember reading an earlier post that someone using an iPad air said that safari isn't reloading as often.. Guess we'll see in the official release on Monday..

To be honest, I don't see rhyme or reason as to why Safari acts up. I don't think it's a memory issue unless an i5S is running close to it's limit with only Safari running a few open tabs.

There is still a bug that occurs over time where the phone doesn't rotate from landscape to portrait readily. I have to lay the phone flat and then adjust back into portrait view for it to rotate. Resetting all setting "fixes" the problem.

I was able to switch from miles to kilometers and pounds to kilometers

Weird thing happened last night... I was on LTE and checked the App Store for updates, saw the iWorks Updates and hut Updare All. I then got the pop up that these items were over the mb limit on cellular and tapped OK. but THEN they all started downloading! Over LTE. Has anybody had this happen? Guessing it's a bug in 8.1 beta 2.

I've seen some posts about that kind of thing a little while back, possibly even iOS 7.1 if not 7.0.

I've had this happen on iOS 8(.0.2).
Can't always replicate, but have had it happen a few times.

Is that with 8.1? Where was the option?

haha I hope it also fixed the bug (maybe only UK language settings) where you can not change the map setting from miles to km, it will always jump back to miles. This is only on iPads and been there since version 7.0
Guess I find out on Monday
