You're the first one to say that it's been fixed. I just find it hard to believe that everybody else is having this issue except you. But good for you.
EDIT: apparently there's a few other folks who are not seeing this issue. Just to be clear, when you open a picture in the Messages app and make it full screen, do you not get the status bar showing up over the picture?

I dont have the issue either. iPhone 6 iOS 8.1 b2.

Well this is the thing...... If it's software, why hasn't anyone at Apple admitted that there's an issue, certainly one of this size.

Myself, and others have logged this issue with Apple and all have had the same response that "This is the first time we have heard of this issue and suggested doing a full restore".

I feel that holding out until IOS 8.1 is released isn't an option and to be honest I can't really be doing with all this BS so the phones going back.

Thanks for your response.

Apple is aware. The main issue was with 5ghz wifi. The beta seems to have corrected that for the most part. I suspect more changes are on the way with the release version. Apparently its a driver issue with the new wifi chip in the iP6/6+. 2.4ghz wifi seems fine from the beginning. Certainly you can return your device and repurchase it later but restock fee may be worth waiting another week for the released version.

I'm thinking public release will be shortly after the event so people can start using ApplePay.

Agreed. Walgreens supposedly rolling it out Saturday so of course 8.1 would have to be available before then.

Thanks for the update, will hang fire until the release of 8.1

As many, I've had almost all iPhones and never really had any issues but this has somewhat tarnished my opinion of Apple and their phones.

I remember when iOS6 came out and killed WIFI for a LOT of iPads. Software/firmware can wreck a device for sure. Hopefully Thursday we will see a release and it will contain lots of fixes including wifi for all bands. Just in case watch your 14 day or whatever return window :)

BTW. maybe for the moment you can switch to the 2.4 ghz wifi (Assuming you are on 5ghz) and get some resolution for now.

does this fix the issue where if you receive a text, go to that conversation, it still says the conversation is unread?

getting this daily and it's annoying. even if i send a text from that convo it still says i have unread messages.

I really think this might have something to do with the new ac wifi chips and older wireless routers.

On a different note, is anybody else having issues with Facebook and Paper not recognizing new pictures added to the library? Neither one of the apps is recognizing any of my latest pictures so I'm unable to post any of my newer pics. Maybe the apps need to be updated for 8.1?

How's the performance on 8.1 vs 8.0.2?

Sad really, a few months ago I thought my iPad was blazing fast.

Good point about the 14 day count down, I've got until a week on Friday to keep or kick.

(I suppose you could say the clocks also ticking for Apple but one person defecting to Android isn't going to cause any loss of sleep)

I'm on an old router (2.4 only) which has never let me down with pretty much everything going through it. (PS3,4, Vita, Sky, Smart TV, iPad, Works iPhone 5s, Wife's Laptop)

I've loved the iPhones and it would be a crying shame if they miss the boat again with iOS 8.1.

Once again, thanks for your assistance.

iOS 8.1 beta 2 Fixes/Changes/Improvements

Mine is fixed. I don't see no status bar overlay in a imessage picture, you still have that problem

Wi-Fi calling has been dead for me since updating to iOS 8.1. It worked briefly on the first beta, and has not worked at all on the second. Have done everything I can think of to troubleshoot it.

Reset Network Settings worked briefly on beta 1, then it went back to not working. Nothing has worked on beta 2.

EDIT: Just to try it out, I reset network settings again. No dice. Then I updated my E-911 address and Wi-Fi calling seems to be back. I'll report again if it goes away once more.

EDIT 2: About an hour later, without even touching my phone, Wi-Fi calling is gone again.

I'm interested to know that as well, using an iPad 4 too. Hope it's because of optimization issues..

Hey guys
Im on ions 8.1 beta 2 with iphone 6.

Just installed Onedrive for the first time, and enabled background sync.
Doesnt seem to work.

Anyone else Experience this? I have to open the app in order to upload the new pictures taken in the camera roll.

Is it beta 2 related maybe? since 8.0 didnt have " camera roll "
but its back in beta 2. I suppose Onedrive should work?

This has been asked earlier in this thread and supposedly it's been fixed. I'm crossing my fingers.

My problems on 8.02 have been like many the safari page loading wheel spinning non stop. Reseting network settings and cache deleting and hard setting has just been a temporary fix.

Ipad 3 running 8.0.2 has seen a previous bug appear in the bookmarks using google. This was reported and sorted in IOS6 and somehow its back again in 8. Ive reported it again. When using google from bookmarks, the page loads fine, but when you click on the box to bring up the keyboard. On pressing the first letter the keypad goes straight back down again. You then obviously have to press the box again to get it back up.

I'm hoping apple also return the bookmark launch to previous full window and not the current squashed page, which you then have to press the bookmark tab to get the full page, so user unfriendly.

,Hey guys, I just installed iOS 8.1 beta 2 on iPad and it's still laggy as piece of crap, especially on older iPad. Just letting you know so that you don't get hopes up like I did.

what steps did you perform ?
did you do anything extra ?
is it really carrier dependent (Vofafone says no) ?

appreciate if you can answer :)

----------

what do you mean by

carriers that support that.

could you please clarify
The carriers typically can specify if they allow an LTE/4G and/or 3G switches in cellular settings. So it can be different for people with different carriers.

----------

I'll personally wait for 8.1.1. Apple isn't what it used to be.
Or even 8.2 if not 8.2.1.
