Thanks for the reply. So by "get it over with and wait for an update" do you mean there would be an update via cydia? Or something else from TaiG I'd need to run on my computer later on?

From what I'm hearing, the updates will have to be done to the kernel, which I don't think can be done via Cydia. So there should be an updated version of TaiG soon.

Does anybody still care?
yes. mainly for tweaks and root. i do a lot of ssh work on my phone tweaking it the way i want since apple doesn't give us the abilities out of the box (advanced configurations). i really dont care for themes or changing the font, though they should allow us to do that anyway. i dont see why apple goes through all this bs anyway. just allow root access for folks that want it. i will gladly void my warranty to do so. on the plus side, apple store clerks dont care if they see cydia. in fact the guy i spoke with the other day goes it should be any day now..

Ok, what are the advantages of your configuration?

Finnaly... I was already losing hope for a JB release!!

hope this one also works with 8.4

Losing hope? Hope is already gone. It sounds as if 8.4 patched the hole which will be released very soon. Jailbreaking is dead. Apple will never stop. Why even bother unless you hate being on the latest version.

This doesn't even come close to what f.lux does.
Yes, but it's an option for people who don't have jailbroken devices. Sorry to disappoint, I thought people might like to know about it.

To wait for an updated TaiG tool, or to sleep. that is the question... if it really is a 2 byte patch to the kernel to fix the substrate issues, I wonder why it is taking them this long.

It was early evening when it was released. We'll probably see something within the next 10 hours.

8.4 patches this exploit. The reason they released it is that the release of 8.4 will mean they will no longer be signing the 8.3 code which means you can't install it after that time without backup. They have to release now of it would be totally worthless as soon as 8.4 is released.
Against my urge, I'm not going to jailbreak. My reason is that I will upgrade to 8.4 because of Apple Music. I lost my 8.1 jailbreak when I got my watch. I miss it but I can survive without it. I'll wait until iOS 9 jailbreak.

According to @i0n1c: "Someone claims that a modified version of TaiG runs on iOS 8.4b4 -> if true then the jailbreak might just work on the final - 8.4."

Would be interesting if it really will work with 8.4, though you'd think Apple could get it patched quickly before release next week.

Only rumours....

I'm still on 8.1.3. Should I wait until the Cydia issue is fixed or does it only affect 8.3 and above? I am missing my JB like no other but don't want to be forced to update my OS if it fails during the process.

There's nothing wrong with Cydia. The kernel has to be updated, which TaiG failed to do. You can jailbreak now and run a jailbreak update later. My recommendation is to just wait for the updated jailbreak tool.

I'm gonna go ahead and sound like an idiot, but I just want a straight answer. When I open up cydia after jailbreaking with this program on iOS 8.3 it restarts my phone. Is that normal because of no Cidya Substrate or should I Re-Jailbreak?

Your phone shouldn't restart, but it should respring. Cydia should now open normally.
